The City of Powder Springs, GA is recruiting for a Deputy Finance Director. The position is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting operations within the City’s Finance Department, while also supporting the Chief Financial Officer and Finance Director in overseeing financial and accounting operations. Key responsibilities include supervising finance staff, coordinating financial audits, contributing to budget preparation, and monitoring, and preparing various reports for city management and council.
The City of Powder Springs is centrally located in Cobb County just outside of I-285. The City is just 40 minutes from Hartsfield-Jackson Airport and is in close proximity to Atlanta.
The City is served by the award winning Cobb County School District, has thriving neighborhoods, a healthy mix of retail and restaurants, diverse housing, and is considered to be a safe, inviting and engaged community. The City provides high quality services you would expect from a leading community in metro Atlanta.
The City has approximately 80 employees across several departments. The FY 2024 General Fund budget is just under $13M. The municipality provides its residents with a full array of exceptional services.
The position requires the successful candidate to meet the following qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
Four (4) years of accounting experience and two (2) years of supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Local government experience desired.
The hiring salary range for this position is $75,000 to $90,000.
