Job Essential Functions and Responsibilities

· Incoming ingredients evaluation for conformance with product specifications

· Perform inspection activities, testing to ensure continuous control over production specification throughout the production cycle.

· Inspect blending/bottling operations for conformance to process and package specification.

· Determine Brix-Acid Ratio (BAR) and oil level in product blends

· Maintain and verify calibration activities for laboratory & operation equipment

· Perform microbiological plating functions.

· Maintain QA record keeping, filing, verifying, and review, documents for accuracy

· Comply with SO Water testing activities

· Environmental testing activities, including swabs and air samples

· Hold process activities following SOPs on product holds

· Monitor compliance with GMPs, HACCP, SOPs, regulatory compliance and company polices

· Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Experience

· AA degree or equivalent from two -year college or technical school in food science, biology, chemistry, microbiology or related field

· HS/GED required with related experience

· BS degree in food science, biology, chemistry, microbiology or related field preferred

· Experience with food manufacturing principles

· Experience in bottling facility preferred

· Proficiency in MS office Suites Applications

· HACCP certified preferred

· Knowledge of GFSI schemes preferred

· Organizational, problem-solving skills

· Laboratory instrumentation preferred

Must be available to work weekends as needed

Skill:

· Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software (Microsoft Word); Spreadsheet software (Microsoft Excel); Manufacturing software (ERP); and general email writing and online research skills.

· Science skills: The person should have a good understanding of basic science – biology, chemistry, microbiology, earth science, physics, or engineering.

· Mathematical Skills: The person should be able to work on simple mathematical problems and to work with fractions, decimals, Standard and Metric systems.

· Language & Communication Skills: Bilingual English / Spanish preferred. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general procedure manuals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw some conclusions that are reasonable within the person’s ability.

Physical Demands:

• The employee is required to be able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand, and walk on a regular basis. Occasionally stand and walk for long periods at a time.
• The employee is required to be able to work with dilute chemicals. Proper safety wear will be provided.
• The employee is required to be able to use both hands and arms, have good sight with or without the use of eye wear, be able to hear and communicate readily, be able to climb a ladder or stairs.
• The employee is required to taste and/or smell (sensory evaluation) citrus products and other fruit juices to test for quality and ensure specs are met. Specific sensory attributes will be developed over time.

Working Environment:

· This position is performed in a laboratory and manufacturing environment including dry warehouse and cold storage.

· There may be exposure to noise, (level usually moderate however proper safety wear is required), work near moving mechanical parts and forklifts, occasionally exposed to wet and/or cold areas, or other outdoor weather conditions.
