Sunbelt Controls is Hiring a Controls Technician - Service Journeyperson Near Pleasanton, CA

TITLE: SERVICE TECHNICIAN

REPORTS TO: Service Supervisor/Service Foreman

SUPERVISES: None

INTERFACES: Customers, Service Technicians, Service Manager, Construction Technicians, Service Supervisor and Foreman, Service Project Managers, 

HOURS: Field Service hours and beyond as necessary, non-exempt position (eligible for OT)

JOB SUMMARY:
 The position requires the individual to apply their technical knowledge and experience to ensure the completion of service calls, maintenance agreement visits, repairs, upgrades, and projects while maintaining a positive customer relationship and high level of quality and satisfaction. The Service Technician is expected to be able to operate independently to complete tasking within budgeted hours. The Service Technician is also expected to be proactive with solutions and recommendations for the customer base.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Complete service calls and preventative maintenance on existing control systems

Perform upgrades, small scale retrofits, or replacement of existing control systems

Provide proactive recommendations for energy saving or preventative measures

Focus on 100% customer satisfaction with each call, maintenance, repair, project, or other customer interaction

Strive to fully understand the customer's needs and requirements, which helps to foster long term relationships

Maintain clear and open communication, both internally and externally

Be sensitive to expectations outside of current scope of work and involve appropriate personnel as necessary

Be timely with paperwork including communications, recommendations, as-builts drawings, payroll reporting, etc

Other functions and tasking as directed by the Foreman or Supervisor

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Three or more years working with HVAC and building automation systems

Advanced computer literacy and experience are required

Strong technical and troubleshooting skills and a solid understanding of HVAC components and sequences of operation

Experience with building automation control systems (Automated Logic, Niagara variants, Trane, or Johnson FX/Metasys, etc) and an understanding of their operation is a plus but not a requirement

Ability to work well with others in the Branch and within the team

History of completing projects on time and within labor budget

Track record of successfully interacting with customers and others within the industry

Good working relationship with office personnel (Service Operations, Service Project Managers)

Motivation to continue personal development with building automation systems and opportunities with new systems

Aptitude for identifying problematic or improperly operating systems and developing solutions • Must be highly organized and possess the ability to work in a high paced environment

• Has the ability to operate independently and autonomously and yet possesses the discretionary judgment to know when it’s appropriate to consult with others in the organization

Ability to execute work to ensure high satisfaction and the highest quality deliverable

• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills are a requirement of this position.

• Must possess a valid California driver’s license

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand, use hands to operate a computer keyboard and telephone, talk and hear

Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10lbs. of force constantly to move objects

Ability to work with hand and other tools in a safe manner

Ability to climb up and down a ladder frequently

The employee must possess the ability to navigate the complexities of an occupied building or service retrofit site while working and practicing site safety requirements and policies of the Company

Wages: 

This position is for signatory employees and wages will be in alignment with the current Collective Bargaining Agreements.
