Sunnyside Presbyterian Home is Hiring a RN Unit Manager-Assisted Living-Memory Care Units Near Waynesboro, VA

Description

The primary responsibilities of the RN Unit Manager are to supervise, coordinate and ensure delivery of quality nursing care for specified unit as well as provide leadership, technical guidance and instruction to supportive nursing personnel. Encourage team building, unity and cohesiveness to both units by providing the tools necessary for success and promote each resident’s rights and always maintaining a clean and safe home-like environment.

Qualifications:

  • Education and experience equivalent to an associate’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of nursing experience; preferably in long-term care.
  • Leadership skills and experience required.
  • Must have current RN license through Virginia Board of Nursing.
  • Use critical creative thinking, problem solving techniques and sound clinical judgement through a process of assessment, experience, diagnosis, implementation and evaluation. 
  • technologically sophisticated and increasingly complex health care arena.
  • Ability to adapt to the ever-changing and more acute clinical environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with confidential information and maintain its integrity.
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and have good organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in stressful environment and deal with medical emergency situations.
  • Ability to process information accurately, make appropriate decisions and take appropriate action based upon the information available.
  • CPR certified or the ability to attain. 
  • Strong customer service skills; maintain a hospitality approach to engaging with all individuals.

Requirements

  • Use clinical judgment to determine the appropriate nursing interventions when planning resident care.
  • Assist with generating physician order sheets, certification and recertification process and perform rounds as needed.
  • Orient new nursing staff and ensure a smooth onboarding process is maintained.
  • Transcribe orders and help charge nurse with admits/discharges.
  • Maintain and update care plans as needed and inform Unit Managers of changes. 
  • Perform duties of Staff Nurse and/or CNA job descriptions in staffing crisis situations.
  • Ensure admission assessments, documentation and orders are completed timely.
  • Meet with all new admissions and their family and assist in the transition process. 
  • Observe and report resident functional/emotional changes to nursing management immediately.
  • Ensure that incident reports are completed and follow up with nurse for any corrections.
  • Observe staff/make daily rounds and check 24 hour report on both units/all shifts. Follow up on any issues/needs found during rounds and 24 hour report check.
  • Complete medical record requests/insurance information and gives to Director of Nursing as needed. 
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Ensure resident bathing schedule is followed according to their preferences.
  • Assist with transfers, lifts and repositioning residents using good body mechanics and proper protocol.
  • Assist with toileting needs according to individual resident needs. Accurately record this information.
  • Assist with overall ADL’s and supervise care being provided by staff nurses and C.N.A’s.
  • Answer resident call bells in a timely manner, responding to calls bells within 3-6 minutes on a consistent basis.
  • Participate in resident care plan process. Offer suggestions for revisions. Assist in keeping C.N.A. care plans current and accurate.
  • Maintain resident rooms neat and uncluttered. Straighten closets, bedside stand, dress, etc.
  • Correct safety issues regarding resident-care environment or equipment and complete maintenance or housekeeping requests as appropriate to keep environment free of unnecessary risks. Correct immediately or report them to supervisor. 
  • Assist with preparing residents and transport them to beauty shop, physical therapy, activities and for scheduled outside appointments as needed. Have residents ready and to appointed places consistently.
  • Assist with recording/reporting vital signs and pertinent information. Document care given accurately. Report all abnormal temperature and blood pressure results to staff nurse promptly. Record resident information on mood/behavior forms, ADL flow sheets and daily care flow sheets.
  • Serve residents trays; feed residents requiring assistance and encourage residents as needed. Provide clothing protector if needed. If feeding is required, complete in an unhurried manner and feed in appropriate serving order. Serve trays within 15 minutes of arrival to unit.
  • Operate patient care equipment such as, but not limited to, electric and manual high/low hospital bed, wheelchair, mechanical lifts, scales, thermometers, etc. in order to perform essential job duties on a daily basis.
  • Ensure daily assignments/instructions are understood and carried out.
  • Utilize time to best advantage to meet job requirements and residents’ needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
