A Day in the Life of a Transportation Design EngineerAs a Transportation Design Engineer at Sunrise Engineering, each day unfolds with a sense of purpose and excitement. Collaborating with a dynamic team, you embark on a journey to create innovative solutions for community engineering projects. In the afternoon, you meet with clients, acting as their advocate and building strong relationships. As a mentor, you guide and nurture the growth of EITs and designers.
Your Day-to-day Activities May Include
- Prepare and oversee revisions of original drawings and revisions of transportation, municipal, private and industrial civil engineering projects using Microstation, InRoads, and AutoCAD software.
- Work to ensure that projects are kept within budget, scope, and timeline
- Market potential and existing clients
- Keep the client happy through regular communication and ensure that projects are kept within budget, scope and timeline.
- Mentor engineers, E.I.T.’s and designers within the group
- Prepare technical reports
- Attend and sometimes conduct staff meetings as required.
Some Basic Qualifications For Success Include
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering coupled with a valid P.E. License.
- A minimum of eight years of relevant experience in transportation engineering projects.
- Proven strong verbal and nonverbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with teams and clients.
- Previous experience with DOT is strongly preferred.
