Job Title: Junior Developer

Location: Whitehouse Station, NJ (Hybrid: 3 days onsite)

Duration: 6 Months contract with possible extensions

Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Developer to assist in the transformation of our legacy applications to the Azure cloud platform. The primary focus of this project is to convert existing Small Talk code to Java and migrate from IMS DB to MongoDB. Additionally, Quadient will be utilized as the rules engine for the transformed applications.

Key Responsibilities:

- Technical Contribution: Assist the development team in the migration of legacy systems to Azure, supporting timely and within-budget delivery of project milestones and deliverables.

- Coding Assistance: Support the conversion of Small Talk code to Java and the migration of IMS DB to MongoDB by participating in coding activities, including writing, testing, and debugging Java code and MongoDB integrations.

- Integration Support: Aid in the seamless integration of Quadient as the rules engine within the new application architecture.

- Collaboration: Work closely with senior developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.

- Quality Assurance: Participate in testing processes, including unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing, to ensure the highest quality standards.

- Documentation: Assist in maintaining comprehensive project documentation, including design specifications, technical documentation, and user guides.

- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies, and continuously seek ways to improve development processes and deliverables.

Qualifications:

- Education: 

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

- Experience:

- Up to 2 years of software development experience.

- Experience with Java development.

- Basic understanding of MongoDB and database migration.

- Familiarity with Small Talk code and its conversion to Java is a plus.

- Experience with cloud platforms, particularly Azure, is desirable.

- Knowledge of Quadient or similar rules engines is an advantage.

- Skills:

- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

- Effective communication and collaboration skills.

- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

- Proficiency in using development tools and version control systems.

- Certifications: Relevant certifications in Java, MongoDB, Azure, or project management are a plus.
