Description

The Recreation Therapist designs activities and programs to meet residents' needs, strengths, and goals, fostering short-term progress and long-term well-being. They collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care.

Essential Functions of your Job:

• Provides clinical services using the APIE Process (assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation).
• Complete documentation (i.e. assessment, interdisciplinary team notes, behavior/progress notes, treatment notes, and program charting) in a timely manner.
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary team for collaboration of care and services and maintain communication with families.
• Develops and implements educational programs to appropriate staff relating to purpose of Recreational Therapy, program implementation/techniques.
• Assist in program evaluation and effectiveness and developing new programs and protocols as needed.
• Advocate for residents for specific programs, needs and interests pertaining to their care and leisure lifestyle.
• Assists the Director of Life Enrichment as directed with staff development, onboarding and education, and other assigned duties.
• Supervise department staff, interns, and volunteers within assigned units.

This full time position's normal schedule will be working Monday-Friday - 8:30 am - 5 pm.

Requirements

• Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) 
• Bachelors in Therapeutic/Recreational Therapy
• Someone that wants to make a difference, have fun at work, and has a willingness to learn!
• Experience in senior care or dementia care preferred
