Position Type: Part-Time, predominantly remote

Position Overview:

We are searching for a highly motivated and visionary Director of Philanthropy to join our team and drive fundraising initiatives that align with our mission and contribute to our growth. The ideal candidate will be passionate about our mission, possess strong leadership skills, and have a proven track record in non-profit management for overall organizational success. In this role, you will actively contribute to executing the strategic vision of our early-stage non-profit, focusing on driving growth, fostering community engagement, and forming partnerships to ensure funding and effective mission implementation. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing creative strategies to secure funding from individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners.

Responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategy:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategic plan aligned with the organization's mission and financial goals.
  • Provide visionary leadership, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.

Fundraising and Resource Development:

  • Lead fundraising efforts, grant writing, and organizational initiatives cultivating relationships with donors, sponsors, and partners.
  • Develop and execute strategies to secure financial support aligning fundraising efforts with the startup's mission and growth objectives.
  • Operational Management:
  • Jointly with the executive team, ensure efficient and effective organizational functioning.
  • Collaborate with the President and Board of Directors to ensure compliance with policies and ethical standards.

Program Development and Impact:

  • Actively contribute to the development and enhancement of programs aligned with the organization's mission.
  • Establish metrics to measure program effectiveness and impact, regularly reporting to donors and other stakeholders.
  • Implement donor stewardship programs to recognize and retain contributors.
  • Ensure a thoughtful, customized, and optimum donor experience. Community Engagement:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, community leaders, partners, and government agencies.
  • Represent the organization at public events, conferences, and forums to enhance visibility and influence.

Team Building and Development:

  • Contribute to recruiting and developing a high-performing team, fostering a positive, innovative, and collaborative work environment.
  • Provide mentorship and support to staff, encouraging professional growth and skill development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proficient and highly engaged in utilizing social media platforms and navigating online tools.
  • Full proficiency in English, and preferably Spanish.
  • Minimum four (4) years of proven management and grant writing experience in the non-profit sector.
  • Strong track record in fundraising, resource development, and financial management.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency using a constituent relationship management (CRM) system is a plus.
  • Experience with USAID, bi-lateral, and multilateral funders is a plus.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Compensation & Benefits:

As an early-stage non-profit, the initial compensation for the Director of Philanthropy role will be modest. Discussions will consider the candidate's experience, skills, and the organization's financial strategy. As the organization secures additional funding, in the short to medium term, we are committed to providing a competitive and rewarding compensation package that reflects organizational success and growth. We are committed to exploring creative and flexible arrangements that contribute to the well-being of our director. Options may include remote work, flexible scheduling, and opportunities for professional development.
