Superior Court of California, County of Monterey is Hiring a General Services Technician Near Salinas, CA

Description

Under general supervision, performs delivery and messenger/courier duties; performs a variety of responsible mail collection, sorting, and distribution; performs copy jobs; and performs other work as required.

Examples of Duties

Positions in this class may perform any or all of the below listed duties. These should be interpreted as examples of the work and are not necessarily all-inclusive.
1. Pick up and deliver mail, interoffice messages, supplies, and materials on an established daily route, or as directed, on foot and in court vehicles;
2. Load and unload boxes/items into or out of a Court vehicle; may need to safely operate a hand truck;
3. Prepare packages for delivery by mail or courier;
4. May store and arrange supplies, equipment, and materials; may assist in the inventory of furniture and equipment and preparing records;
5. Perform various routine clerical tasks such as: maintaining files, preparing records and reports and operating office equipment, like a personal computer with Microsoft Office software;
6. Maintains basic logs and records of work performed;
7. Opens, sorts and delivers incoming U.S. and interoffice mail;
8. Receiving and shipping of Court supplies and office equipment;
9. Operates and maintains a variety of electronic and automated office machines and mail room equipment;
10. Receives, logs in, processes and distributes signature and certified mail and packages;
11. Receives, weighs, meters and stamps outgoing mail;
12. Responds to questions regarding mailroom operations, postal rates and regulations;
13. Safely operates a Court vehicle;
14. Orders and stocks office supplies at various court locations;
15. Schedules the Court's fleet vehicles for maintenance;
16. Performs various copying projects.

Minimum Qualifications & Examples of Experience and Training

The knowledge and skills listed above may be acquired through various types of experience, education, or training, typically:
Experience:
One (1) year of driving a motor vehicle, a valid class C driver’s license and a clean driving record; and
Six (6) months of general clerical and/or labor experience.

Other Information

The physical and sensory abilities required for this classification include:
1. Ability to communicate and function in a typical office environment;
2. Personal mobility to work in various office locations;
3. Ability to sit and/or stand at a desk using a computer for extended periods of time, up to 6 hours a day;
4. Ability to read and comprehend standard text;
5. Finger and manual dexterity in order to operate a computer keyboard;
6. Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds;
7. Ability to stoop, reach, bend and safely climb ladders to access files.

The Superior Court of California, County of Monterey offers a comprehensive benefits program. The below benefits summary is based on a full-time position benefits may be prorated for part-time positions:
Vacation: Accrues at the rate of 3.7 hours per 80 hours earned in a biweekly pay period. The accrual rate increases after 3, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 years of service.
Holidays: 14 days a year.
Sick Leave: Provides salary continuation for absence due to illness and is earned at the rate of 3.08 hours 80 hours earned in a biweekly pay period.
Bereavement Leave: Up to 3 days of paid leave.
Educational Leave: Two 8-hour day per calendar year.

Education Reimbursement: Up to $1,000 per year.

Medical Insurance: employee and dependent coverage available.

Dental Insurance: employee and dependent coverage available.

Vision Care Insurance: employee and dependent coverage available.

Life Insurance: $30,000 life insurance policy.

Deferred Compensation: A voluntary deferred compensation program is available.
Retirement: Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) Employer and Employee (based on percentage of pay) contributes into CalPERS
