Sussex County Community College is Hiring a Part-Time Campus Security Officer Near Newton, NJ

The SCCC Campus Security Officer focuses on providing a safe and secure environment for student, faculty, staff and guests of the college. Responsible for the implementation of safety and security operations that will ensure the well-being of the campus community. Facilitates the College’s Security department and serves as a public safety agent performing a variety of communications and operational tasks in support of public safety, security and other operations in accordance with facility necessities. Reporting to the Director of Campus Operations.

1. Assists with building access, protection, parking safety and providing overall security presence.

2. Responds to calls for service, including emergency and non-emergency incidents throughout campus and off campus sites.

3. Maintaining knowledge of all Emergency Operation Procedures and College regulations as well as daily campus operations and facilities.

4. Assists in conducting fire and lockdown drills on campus.

5. Monitors compliance with all applicable laws and work with others on campus to communicate and address issues and concerns.

6. Ensure compliance with college policies and procedures.

7. Watch for and reports irregularities, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards and emergency situations.

8. Directs incoming first responders and College Security during emergency incidents.

9. Testing campus safety equipment and communication devices.

10. Receiving, recording and posting all class delays/cancellation notifications.

11. Issue campus violations and warnings.

12. Submitting and/or processing Incident Reports.

13. Assist managing database systems including emergency mass notification, electronic locks, ID cards and parking permits.

14. Process parking permit and photo ID requests.

15. Serves as a Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.

16. Assist the public and college community in a professional and courteous manner.

17. Assisting the Director of Campus Safety and Security as needed.

Essential Skills:

· High School Diploma required.

· Work experience in a professional public safety agency.

· SORA certification, or be able to obtain prior to employment.

· Ability to work, organize & operate with a high level of efficiency under pressure & extreme stress.

· Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks simultaneously and make critical decisions that affect campus wide response & reaction.

· Work with minimal supervision.

· Assist the public and college community in a professional and courteous manner.

Preferred Skills:

· CPR, First Aid, AED Certified

· ICS & NIMS training certification preferred

· Knowledge of Clery compliance

Salary:

$18.00 per hour
