About the role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Compliance Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing our existing compliance framework, building out improvements, and leveraging technology and AI to transition to an AI-driven advice review processes.

The ideal candidate would work closely with our advisers to coach and improve their practices, enhancing the overall risk profile of the license. The Compliance Manager will also lead the monthly Risk and Compliance Committee meetings, develop risk dashboards, and provide strategic recommendations to the leadership team.

This role requires collaboration with various departments such as sales, marketing, and operations to drive business-wide improvements and ensure regulatory compliance. Understanding of a high-volume business specialising in general advice is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Review and Improve Compliance Framework:

• Conduct thorough reviews of the existing compliance framework.
• Identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes.
• Ensure compliance policies and procedures are up-to-date and effectively communicated to all relevant stakeholders.

Leverage Technology:

• Utilise technology to support advice review processes.
• Ensure the implementation of technology tools is seamless and enhances efficiency and accuracy in compliance activities.

Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management:

• Respond to regulatory inquiries and ensure timely and accurate submissions.
• Develop and maintain risk management strategies to improve the risk profile of the license.

Adviser Coaching and Improvement:

• Work closely with advisers to provide coaching and support to enhance their compliance practices.
• Conduct training sessions and workshops to ensure advisers are up-to-date with regulatory requirements and best practices.

Risk and Compliance Committee Leadership:

• Own and chair the monthly Risk and Compliance Committee meetings.
• Develop comprehensive risk dashboards that provide insightful data on the business's risk exposure.
• Prepare and present reports to the leadership team, making strategic recommendations based on risk assessments.

Cross-Departmental Collaboration:

• Collaborate with sales, marketing, and operations teams to ensure compliance considerations are integrated into all business processes.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the business to enhance overall compliance and operational efficiency.

Stakeholder Communication and Reporting:

• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders regarding compliance matters.
• Prepare detailed reports and documentation for the leadership team and regulatory bodies as required.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Financial Planning, Law, Business, Finance, or a related field.
• Extensive experience in compliance, risk management, or a related role within the financial services industry.
• In-depth knowledge of AFSL regulatory requirements and obligations.
• Ideally, can act as a Responsible Manager (RM) on the license.
• Strong understanding of technology and open to exploring and building AI applications in compliance.
• Proven experience in developing and improving compliance frameworks.
• Excellent leadership and coaching skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across different departments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• High attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Experience with high-volume business operations, especially in general advice contexts is advantageous.
• Ability to embrace and work with AI to identify future improvement opportunities is advantageous.
