Sutphen is seeking assemblers to join our growing team in Urbana, Ohio.
A fire truck builder is responsible for assembling various components of a fire truck. They follow blueprints and instructions to ensure that each truck is built to specifications. This role requires mechanical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with a team to complete projects efficiently.

Essential Tasks

• Fabricate and manufacture metal parts for later assembly
• Follow blueprints to ensure exact specifications of output
• Certified in position 1F and 2F welds
• Test output to ensure strength and tolerance of welds
• All wiring and workmanship to comply with established company standards

Education, Skills, And Abilities

• Must have a valid driver’s license, pass a drug screen and a standardized background check
• Prior experience welding, preferably in a manufacturing environment
• Familiarity with common welding tools and procedures, including MIG welding TIG welding, metal fabricating, grinding, and finishing metals
• Familiarity with common fabrication tools and procedures, including shear, press brake, notching equipment
• Blueprint reading and knowledge of common welding symbols
• Must be able to accurately read a tape measure
• Overhead crane experience a plus
• Sustained holding up to 40 lbs. overhead for (5-15) minutes during installation
• Consistent walking and standing
• Must be able to kneel, squat, stoop, bend, twist, pull, push, and reach
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and work in fluctuating temperatures
