Adjustment CounselorReports to District AdminPrimary Function:To provide direct cognitive/ behavioral services for special education students and regular education students identified through a systemic process. This will include the completion of an FBA and development of BIP, addressing specific goals, consultation, and collaboration with inclusion teachers, and individual and family counseling. Caseload TBD.Assigned Responsibilities:1. Establish a systemic process to identify students in need of cognitive/behavioral services.2. Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments as necessary.3.Develop a Behavior Intervention Plan to include target behavior(s), interventions, responsible party, and ongoing review.4. Assist guidance counselors/principals in scheduling identified students to a specific “period” each day.5. Identify unacceptable behaviors that warrant immediate removal from the inclusion model, procedures for post-removal, and return.6. Participate in TEAM meetings as necessary.7. Focus on specific goals identified for targeted students.8. Provide individual and family counseling.9. Collaborate with inclusion teachers to implement BIP and increase appropriate student behaviors.10. Establish systematic programming for self-esteem/character building.Staff:a.Meetings, Training: Attend staff meetings and District in-service training programs.b.Committees: Serve on committees as requested.c.School Activities: Be responsible for discharging whatever instructional and non-instructional school-related activities may be assigned, e.g. playground, lunchroom, study hall, etc. d.Confer With Staff Members: Confer with other staff members regarding their own experience with a given student during the team planning time provided. Participate in grade-level teacher/advisor conferences as scheduled by the Superintendent or his/her designee.Operations:a.Policies, and Regulations: Know and observe the policies and regulations of the District.b.Pupil Attendance, Tardiness: Keep records of pupil attendance and tardiness and advise administration of excessive absences or tardiness.c.Injury, Illness: Report any injury or illness to the student or self to the school nurse.d.Attendance: Report to work daily at times assigned by the administration and remain on duty through the time prescribed by the contract. Advise administration before 6:00 a.m. before absence from school and during the school day not to be absent from the classroom leaving students without supervision.e.Books, Supplies: Account for books and supplies and keep required records of their quantity and condition.f.Housekeeping: Observe proper housekeeping procedures and safety practices in keeping with building regulations.g.Physical Plant: Advise administration promptly whenever an unsafe building condition is observed in class or school.h.Completion of Daily Duties: As required, remain in school after the dismissal of students for as long as necessary to complete daily duties, attend meetings, hold parent conferences, etc.i.Emergency Procedures: Read and become familiar with the school’s emergency response plan.j.Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal
