SUTTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS is Hiring a Facilities Manager for Sutton Public School 2024-2025 School Year Near Sutton, MA
The Facilities Manager is directly responsible for maintaining and improving the physical plant, grounds, and all equipment. The Facilities Manager must be able to exercise a high degree of initiative in accomplishing the aims of the school department and in carrying out the policies adopted by the Sutton School Committee, and the directives issued by the Office of the Superintendent. Skill in successful management and delegation of personnel is essential.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Inspects and evaluates physical plant and related equipment2. With the Business Manager, develop and monitor the facility maintenance budget3. Implements and administers all operations in compliance with OSHA, ADA, local, state, and federal legal requirements4. Evaluate and make recommendations to the Superintendent for improving plant, grounds, and equipment maintenance operations5. Makes recommendations for maintenance, repairs, and service including grounds and athletic fields6. Maintains building automation systems including HVAC and School Dude and reports on a monthly basis7. Recruit custodial staff making recommendations to the Superintendent for new hires8. Supervises, determines work schedules for and evaluates all custodial staff, grounds staff, and mechanic9. Supervises all storm-related cleanup including snow removal10. Prepares state and federal reports (i.e., asbestos reports)11. Assists in system-wide decision-making by serving on committees12. Participates in staff development activities13. Confers with outside contractors to perform activities or supply materials necessary for department services14. Supervises repair work done by outside maintenance companies15. Plans and coordinates activities and services relating to grounds, building and equipment maintenance, HVAC, and plumbing for physical plants (this responsibility includes familiarity with Delta Controls or Automated Logic)16. Plans and coordinates activities and services relating to the district PWS (Public Water System) the water treatment plant, and the Waste Water Treatment plant operations and equipment.17. Ensures a safe and clean environment for faculty, students and staff18. Maintains service logs and inventory of facilities and equipment19. Works with fire and police departments on building security20. Knowledge of Sutton School Committee policies and procedures21. Performs other duties as assigned by the SuperintendentREQUIRED ABILITIES:1. Must be physically able to lift materials weighing up to 60 pounds2. Must be able to climb ladders3. Ability to manage building HVAC systems4. Must be able to handle and work proficiently with common hand and power tools, screwdrivers, saws, drills, wrenches, and hammers5. Ability to work independently6. Ability to work closely with the Superintendent, Business Manager, and Director of Information Technology7. Familiarity with technology and basic software such as Microsoft Word and Excel 8. Effective verbal and written communication skills9. Must have a valid Massachusetts driver’s license, and a hoisting engineer 2A, or willingness to obtain one.QUALIFICATIONS:1. Experience and/or knowledge of automated heating and cooling devices, plumbing, roofs, general building infrastructure, and equipment required. Engineering experience preferred.2. Strong human relations skills desired3. Must be able to work evenings and weekendsEDUCATION:College degree with a concentration in engineering or operations management, or relevant, equivalent experience such as a facility management certificate, background in construction management, HVAC, or related building trade.WORK YEAR:Twelve months SALARY: Competitive salary commensurate with experience
