SWI Excavating is Hiring an Earthwork Foreman Near Englewood, CO

SWI Excavating is currently looking a qualified Earthwork Foreman with experience in commercial excavation projects to join our team!

SWI Excavating has been delivering quality projects to our valued clients since 1997 in the Metro Denver area and all along the front range. We offer a full scope of services including Demolition, Site Overlot, Grading, Excavation and Backfill, and wet utility installations.

SWI Excavating is seeking an experienced and motivated Earthwork Foreman to lead and manage our crew onsite. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in earthwork operations and be proficient in the use of heavy machinery, including excavators, loaders, skid steers, dozers, and scrapers. As an Earthwork Foreman, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently, and maintaining high standards of quality.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and operate Excavators, Loaders, Skid Steers, Dozers, Scrapers, and Compactors
  • Read and interpret grade stakes, site markings, maps, blueprints, and drawings to ensure soil is moved according to specified guidelines.
  • Set up and use grade control devices to achieve precise grade tolerances.
  • Understand and apply all safety protocols related to excavations and trenches.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to exchange information.
  • Maintain situational awareness around equipment to ensure safe operation and avoid hazards such as utility lines, other machinery, personnel, or falling debris.
  • Conduct pre- and post-operation checks on equipment and report any issues to supervisors.
  • Perform basic equipment repairs when field mechanics are not available on-site.
  • Coordinate machine movements with crew members using hand and audio signals.
  • Operate equipment with blades to make successive passes over work areas to remove topsoil, vegetation, or rocks, and to distribute and level earth or terrain as needed.
  • Collaborate with your superintendent, project manager, and team to ensure work meets project specifications.
  • Manage employee time cards and performance using HeavyJob.
  • Undertake additional tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Use hand equipment with mechanized moving blades.
  • Use manual hand tools such as shovels, brooms, etc. for an extended period.
  • Work in/or about situations near direct automotive traffic.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and carry 70 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, stoop and twist continuously throughout the day.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $37.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 55 per week
