About the Position:

We have an amazing opportunity for a Senior Actuarial Analyst who will work across the Swyfft and Core Programs entities of our company.

Are you someone who is naturally curious and wants to gain an understanding of the ins and outs of actuarial processes? Are you willing to try new things and find creative solutions to problems that you haven’t faced yet?

We’re searching for someone open-minded and energized to help facilitate a whole new approach to the way we price and generate risk acceptability and risk-appropriate premiums across our homeowner and commercial product lines.

*This position is a 100% U.S. based remote opportunity that can be based in one of the following states AL, AZ, CT, DE, FL, GA, KY, LA, MA, MO, NC, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI.

Some travel for team meetings and training may be required. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide sponsorship at this time.

Key Responsibilities: (What you'll be asked to do)

  • Complete the quarterly state rate review process to develop a rate need, communicate results to the actuarial manager, draft a proposal outlining targeted actions, and work with the technology department to implement.
  • Facilitate rate/rule/form filing creation and submission in SERFF and assemble all required filing exhibits and research filing requirements.
  • Successfully complete projects leveraging various actuarial topics including trends, reserve development, loss modeling, and more with supervision.
  • Query, validate, and analyze data from multiple sources to assist in actuarial analyses.
  • Assemble policy and claim bordereaus for external parties.
  • Update treaty year financial exhibits to assist in reinsurance placement.
  • Provide out-of-the-box solutions to complex data and pricing problems while leveraging basic ratemaking and reserving techniques.
  • Build and enhance our Excel templates to improve ratemaking/reserving processes and efficiencies.
  • Research competitor and industry data to create exhibits that summarize the results in Excel.

The Successful Candidate: (what we're looking for)

  • You’re a self-motivated, analytical problem solver who thrives in an ever-changing, fast-paced collaborative environment. 
  • You’re a data pro who is comfortable building and manipulating datasets from raw data sources.
  • You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills (you are comfortable presenting in person or in a virtual environment via MS Teams, Slack, etc.).
  • You get excited when you have to think outside the box especially when it pertains to actuarial topics.
  • Ability to independently identify problems or questions and address them as needed.
  • Homeowners, commercial property, catastrophe modeling, and/or reinsurance experience a plus.

 Some Requirements:

  • 2 years’ experience in the P&C or related industry.
  • You’ve passed an actuarial exam.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to work with a remote team in multiple time zones.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics, or a relevant field is required.

Computer Skills:

  • We’re a MS Office environment (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Expert-level MS Excel experience is required.
  • Experience using video and chat technology (MS Teams & Slack).
  • Other nice to have’s (not required) are basic skills in various computer programs and languages including but not limited to R, SQL, Dataiku, Tableau, Access, Python, VBA.
