SXSW LLC is Hiring a Contractor - Film & TV Documentary Feature Programming Associate Near Texas, TX
Job PurposeSXSW Film & TV Festival Documentary Feature Programming Associate watches and evaluates a high volume of feature films submitted for consideration for the festival. This position requires a strong awareness of SXSW’s past programming slates and the festival’s place and importance in the film industry. In particular, applicants should be able to contextualize films beyond their personal tastes and showcase an understanding of how films and filmmakers may (or may not) fit within the larger industry landscape. Duties & ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Watching 20 documentary feature films per week for many weeks in a row
Providing written feedback on each film by the deadline
Adapt to feedback given by the SXSW Film & TV programming team
Attending periodic programming meetings, as requested
Qualifications & Skills
3 years’ experience in film programming/screening
Interest/experience in film and the film industry
Ability to watch 200 (or potentially more) feature films between August and January
Strict deadline management
Strong writing skills, with an ability to be informative but concise
Ability to work within a team dynamic and communicate in a respectful manner
Physical RequirementsThis position requires being in front of a computer screen and watching films for extended periods. Work Location & ScheduleWhile SXSW is located in Austin, Texas, this position will be remote. Our screening season takes place between August and December.
