We are dedicated to delivering excellence in every project we undertake and are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Controller to join our team and oversee all financial aspects of our construction operations.

Position Summary: The Accounting Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial activities of the company, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction accounting, with a focus on managing the unique financial aspects of construction projects within the sports industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

• Oversee all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
• Manage the month-end and year-end close processes.

Construction Accounting:

• Ensure accurate project cost accounting, including job cost reporting, project budgeting, and contract administration.
• Monitor project budgets and costs, and work with project managers to ensure financial control and accountability.
• Prepare Work in Progress (WIP) reports and ensure accurate revenue recognition based on percentage of completion.

Financial Reporting:

• Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
• Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
• Support the CAO with the preparation of the annual budget and forecasts.

Internal Controls and Compliance:

• Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate audits and provide necessary documentation and support to auditors.

Cash Management:

• Oversee cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds as needed.
• Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports.

Team Leadership:

• Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
• Provide guidance on accounting issues, ensure professional development, and evaluate performance.

System Implementation and Management:

• Oversee the implementation and management of accounting software and systems.
• Ensure that financial systems are optimized for efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements:

• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with construction management software is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in the sports construction industry.
• Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a construction accounting role.
• Experience with job costing, WIP reporting, and revenue recognition in a construction environment.
• In-depth knowledge of construction accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
• Familiarity with construction project management processes and software.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, preferred but not required.
