Summary

The Synchrony Medical Technologist works under the direction of the Lab Manager and will be responsible for testing, analyzing, reviewing and reporting results, while living up to the philosophy of providing the highest quality lab service and ensuring the best possible patient care and client results.

Hours

Wednesday-Sunday schedule. Day shift

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Performs procedures in chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, and microbiology, and other lab disciplines as determined by lab leadership.
2. Performs, records, and evaluates daily quality control and instrument function and maintenance.
3. Recognizes and reports normal and abnormal patient values to healthcare providers.
4. Assists with implementation of new testing procedures.
5. Assists in maintaining area to meet accrediting agency standards.
6. Demonstrates competence with laboratory computer systems.
7. Communicate with physician, nurses, and ancillary caregivers concerning testing results.
8. Rotates in all services of the Laboratory as needed.
9. Demonstrates proper techniques in order to minimize duplication of testing and maintaining instruments to prevent costly repairs and downtime.
10. Demonstrates the proper use, care and maintenance of laboratory equipment, tools, materials, and supplies for the appropriate work areas.
11. Ensures that procedural performance and behavior does not result in physical or psychological discomfort to the patient or others associated with patients.
12. Obtains prompt, accurate test results to aid the healthcare provider with treatment of the patient.
13. Performs Lab Assistant duties as needed.
14. Demonstrates and actively promotes an understanding and commitment to the mission of Synchrony Health Services.

Qualifications:

• Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology OR
• S. degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Lab Sciences, or related field
• MT/MLT ASCP (or equivalent) preferred

Experience :

• Two (2 ) years experience in a moderate complexity or high complexity laboratory setting

Skills in:

• Analytical thinking and documentation
• Organization and attention to detail

Ability to:

• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Meet deadlines, prioritize and deliver quality results in a time sensitive environment.
• Work independently, as well as collaboratively, within a team environment.
• Think on your feet and multitask
