- The Water Resources Engineer will have the opportunity to work on a variety of project tasks including site evaluations, planning, modeling, data analysis, and engineering design for a wide range of stormwater, wastewater, and water system projects.
- Work requires familiarity with basic engineering and wastewater resources terminology and concepts relative to stormwater and wastewater, including principals of hydrology and hydraulics as it applies to drainage studies, gravity sewer design, pumping systems, and force mains to properly collect and transfer stormwater and wastewater through various collection, storage, and treatment systems.
- The Water Resources Engineer will work under the guidance of experienced engineers and be responsible for mentoring less experienced Design Engineers.
- Create engineering drawings to specific horizontal and vertical scale(s) to depict complex engineering designs in plan and/or plan and profile view for construction by others.
- Read engineering plans to perform quantity take-offs for use with unit prices to generate a basic engineer's estimate of probable construction costs.
- Prepare spreadsheets that will be utilized to summarize and sort data sets to define problems and establish facts, such as minimum, maximum, and average recorded precipitation from rain gages, flow meter data, community surveys relative to flooding during rain events, sewer backups, etc.
- Utilize technical writing skills to develop detailed specifications to instruct contractors on proper materials, installation requirements, and performance testing for construction projects, and technical memoranda and reports to summarize investigative efforts, alternative analyses, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Perform field work, including acquiring field measurements, taking notes and photographs, and drawing sketches to document existing conditions, or, in the case of construction projects, to confirm that work by others conforms to defined project requirements.
- Review work product prepared by others, including environmental reports, geotechnical reports, photographs, sketches, and closed-circuit internal television (CCTV) footage of sanitary and storm sewers to tabulate and summarize findings or otherwise incorporate into work product as directed.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or related discipline. EI preferred.
- New graduate up to four (4) or more years of Water Resources Engineering experience.
- Experience working within AutoCad as an engineering design tool that will be used to prepare engineering drawings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and time management skills.
- Effectively communicate and coordinate with other team members.
- Complete work on time and within budget.
- Be energetic, self-directed, and success focused.
