A premier, family-owned food manufacturing company local to Middlesex County, NJ is searching for a Maintenance Manager to join their team!
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficiency and upkeep of all facilities and equipment. This role includes evaluating and improving production and packaging lines, determining new equipment needs, and developing troubleshooting protocols. The manager prioritizes tasks, schedules, and assigns personnel using Fast Track preventative maintenance software, coordinating with various departments to release equipment for service and arrange necessary shutdowns. Additionally, the manager manages parts inventory, preventive and predictive maintenance programs, and champions continuous improvement for overall equipment effectiveness. This role also involves providing technical input for developing equipment/component specifications to ensure efficient operations.
* Review, develop, and optimize master maintenance schedules for production and packaging equipment.
* Maintain proper inventories for spare parts to minimize downtime due to equipment breakdowns.
* Implement, maintain, and close out preventive maintenance (PM) tasks in the PM software (Fast Track), ensuring current information is available at all times.
* Monitor and verify all work performed by technicians and apprentices to ensure tasks are properly completed.
* Supervise the maintenance shop, ensuring it remains clean and orderly.
* Ensure the operational efficiency of all production equipment and mechanical systems through timely inspections and repairs.
* Ensure that company premises and facilities are kept in clean and hygienic condition.
* Oversee and direct maintenance personnel and contractors on equipment and facility maintenance tasks.
* Assist with repairs as needed to meet deadlines and keep production facilities running smoothly.
* Collaborate with the SQF team on facility preventive maintenance records before audits and provide electronic copies to the SQF Practitioner and Quality Team.
* Clearly communicate equipment downtime and repair deadlines to production staff and management, facilitating schedule and cleaning adjustments.
* Provide excellent customer service when handling maintenance requests from internal teams and meeting with external vendors.
* Conduct facility inspections with the Corrective Maintenance Supervisor to identify and resolve issues.
* Hire, develop, coach, assign, reward, and monitor maintenance staff.
* Recommend innovative and cost-effective solutions for applications that meet end-user expectations and produce high-quality, lower-cost finished products.
The Maintenance Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the efficiency and reliability of production operations, maintaining high standards of equipment maintenance, and contributing to the continuous improvement of overall equipment effectiveness.
Job Requirements
* Proven experience as a maintenance manager
* Minimum of 10 years experience in planning maintenance operations
* Strong understanding of technical aspects related to plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems
* Practical knowledge of facilities machines and equipment
* Valid Boiler or HVAC certification is desired
* Technical proficiency, including experience with MS Office & CMMS software
* Ability to accurately track and report activities
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Exceptional organizational and leadership abilities
* High school diploma or equivalent; a degree from a vocational school or a BSc/BA in business administration or facility management is advantageous but not required
* Bilingual (Spanish/English) capabilities are an added advantage
