Job Description
Job Summary:
Promotes risk management initiatives in Division to effectively identify, assess, mitigate and monitor risks across all Teams and support functions. Analyzes the current business environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions to ensure timely and effective risk mitigation efforts. May mentor junior analysts and will work closely with business units. Key player in developing the strategic direction of the risk management group.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Partners with ORM to document, monitor and assess risks and related controls for Division. Oversees, conducts and reviews Risk Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs) to ensure business unit meets corporate standards that specifically relate to risk management.
  • Performs follow-up on issues and/or treatment plans documented by Operational Risk Management.
  • Collaborates with management to determine adequacy and effectiveness of risk mitigation plans. Evaluates and reviews various process documents and collaborate with management to determine adequacy and effectiveness of controls and in developing action plans to remediate deficiencies and gaps identified in the internal control environment.
  • Partners with Division Leadership to provide recommendations and track risk mitigation plans. Produces and disseminates assessment summaries to leadership with recommendations for areas of suggested improvement; partner with leadership to develop and execute related action plans for agreed upon improvements. Provides day-to-day risk support to Team and support functions to build a culture and climate focused on the pro-active awareness of, and, continuous improvement in, the operational risk environment.
  • Serves in various roles as deemed necessary to partner with other risk-related departments such as IRR, Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML) Compliance, etc. Offers guidance to the ORM by providing documentation and data as requested. Trends risks and provides input to executive level reporting. Drives risk management initiatives to document risk and controls as a result of process changes, new products/services, etc. where scope may vary dependent on the Team or support function.
  • Provides reporting, presentations, and thought leadership to management. Develops and creates departmental reports and presentations to Division Leadership. Offers insight into industry and regulatory changes and trends to determine potential impact on Division services and processes. Identifies and utilizes opportunities for enhanced Risk Management that align with department and Operations Division strategies.
  • Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements
Minimum Education:
  • Requires a level of knowledge normally gained through completion of an undergraduate degree
Minimum Experience:
  • 5 years experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Experience in banking or financial industry.
  • Relevant experience in internal/external audit, operational risk management, accounting and/or regulatory compliance (or related).
  • Experience reviewing and understanding policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Experience identifying, documenting and evaluating risks and controls relating to operations, financial reporting, and compliance processes and objectives.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal; solid presentation skills.
  • Strong proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven ability to partner effectively across all levels of the organization and develop positive working relationships.
  • Ability to independently prioritize and follow-up on commitments and take initiative to resolve issues, self-motivated, self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision
