Syracuse City is Hiring a Maintenance worker Near Syracuse, UT

Job Title : Land Maintenance Worker

Department : Parks and Recreation

Reports To : Parks Maintenance Crew Leads; and Parks Operations Manager

Status : Seasonal, Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Wage : $15.00 - $16.50 DOE

Close Date : Open Until Filled

Hours : Up to 40 hours / week, schedule / shift determined by supervisor

Season : April 1st - November 30th (no more than 6 months from date of hire)

Position Summary :

Performs a variety of entry-level duties related to the maintenance, upkeep, beautification, installation, repair, and construction of parks grounds / amenities, cemetery grounds, trails, buildings, splash pads, and general environments;

and other duties as assigned by the Parks Operations Manager, Parks Maintenance Crew Leads, or designated Park Maintenance Staff.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Sixteen (16) Years of age, or older
  • Valid Utah Class D Driver's License (preferred)
  • Off-Highway Vehicle Certification (within 30 days of hire)
  • One (1) year of experience, or more, in a related field (preferred but not necessary)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

Knowledge of maintenance equipment such as mowers, aerators, trimmers, etc.; landscape and sprinkler system repair and troubleshooting;

safety precautions associated with equipment operations; interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to receive and follow instructions.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to regularly lift 50 to 75 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to generally loud noise or very loud noise (ex.

An individual is exposed to chemicals, liquid chemicals, solvents, and oils. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and / or humid conditions, fumes, or airborne particles.
