Job Description
Reporting to the head of the Labor Relations Team, the Labor Relations Coordinator will provide an array of services to directly support the Labor Relations Team and partner with the larger Human Resources group and Office of Equal Opportunity as needed to carry out the Labor Relations team’s functions. Managing multiple priorities, and with great attention to detail, the Coordinator will provide administrative support to the labor relations team, assist in employee investigations and discipline process, maintain labor relations databases, prepare reports, and liaise with the Title IX and EEO team to set meetings for interviews and hearings. The Coordinator will also attend labor-management meetings and be responsible for meeting minutes and recordkeeping. The Coordinator will be an engaged member of the HR Team who is able to excel both in independently and in group settings.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or Associate degree
  • Four (4) plus years’ experience in Human Resources, or labor relations and/or employee relations, or related work preferred.
  • Experience as a generalist or in labor relations in an academic setting desirable.
Job Specific Qualifications
  • Human Resources, labor relations, or paralegal experience desirable.
  • Excellent organizational and writing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively across levels.
  • Proactive self-starter, adept at finding creative solutions to challenging issues.
  • Must be detail-oriented, able to prioritize effectively and work efficiently respecting deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently but also function as part of a team.
  • Exceptional critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to prepare detailed, well written reports.
  • Proficiency in using PowerPoint; Microsoft Office Products, and particularly Outlook, Word, Visio, and Excel; ability to run Hyperion data queries.
  • Must be able to keep calm under pressure.
Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support for the Labor Relations Team
  • Prepare and maintain written reports of interviews, investigations..
  • Maintain and update labor relations log; prepare reports and meeting minutes.
  • Assist Labor Team in confidential investigations of employee complaints.
  • Assist in review, approval, and posting of union jobs; review and prepare discipline documentation; under direction, perform various tasks as assigned relating to contract administration and implementation.
  • Receive intake of complaints, calls, inquiries from union staff and supervisors regarding myriad labor relations topics; triage and refer to Labor Team as appropriate and/or provide information based on CBAs and established policies.
