Job Description:
Seeking a skilled and experienced Project Manager to oversee and manage IT Innovation’s recently funded Connected Assets project that will provide several strategic and interconnected data capabilities along Light Rail’s right-of-way: (1) Broadband Backbone, (2) Mesh Network, (3) Mobile Edge Compute Devices, and (4) Several Custom Microservices and Applications built using the underlying architecture in the previous capabilities 1 – 3.
The staff augmentation resources will work to advance the projects by building and maintaining a detail oriented and wholistic understanding of the design of the system, subsystems, individual pieces of equipment, and their components, primary vendors/ contractors, installation plans, test plans, and test results. The resources will coordinate all vendor and Client activities related to this project, and maintain all project management and compliance reporting materials.
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Planning
• Lead translation of reference architecture into vendor-agnostic requirements.
• Assist in project scope definition, objectives, and success criteria in alignment with funding incentive mandated strategic goals.
• Lead and manage end-to-end project, ensuring plan adherence, successful delivery within defined scope, budget, resources, milestones, and timeline.
• Identify, assess, manage, and prioritize potential risks and corresponding mitigation strategies.
• Ensure stakeholder’s interests and ensure their alignment/visibility with/to the project goals.
2. Management
• Lead a cross-functional project team (IT professionals, engineers, designers, and subject matter experts.
• Oversee production and organization of documentation pertaining to all equipment, installation plans, purchasing plans, including budgets, technical drawings of stations, tracks, and vehicles.
• Ensure task/expectation/responsibility goal alignment.
• Develop/manage the budget and track expenditures within financial/regulatory constraints.
• Resource/personnel allocation and optimization to ensure the project timeline.
• Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
3. Stakeholder/cross-departmental communication
• Clear and open cross-departmental communication with stakeholders, including providing project updates, status reports/progress presentations, addressing concerns, managing expectations, and ensuring stakeholder engagement.
4. Project Execution
• Oversee the day-to-day task execution, resolve conflicts, and ensure plan/timeline adherence
• Monitor risks and issues/dependencies and implement mitigation strategies.
• Monitor progress milestones and adjust as necessary to stay on track.
5. Quality Assurance
• Define and communicate quality standards and ensure deliverables meet these standards.
• Implement testing and quality control processes to validate the functionality/reliability.
• Conduct reviews/audits to ensure best practice adherence.
6. Documentation
• Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including plans, reports, and communications.
7. Post-Project Evaluation
• Conduct post-project reviews during the closeout process to evaluate success against predefined objectives.
• Identify lessons learned and potential improvements and capture stakeholder and team feedback.
Additional Details:
• Resources should have the following Experience, Education, and Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Professional experience in Transportation, Engineering and ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems). Professional Engineer (P. Eng // PE) certification a plus.
• Proven experience as a project leader in the transit industry, specifically in IoT / technology / ITS project implementation.
• PMP certification or equivalent experience.
• Experience with Networking, Fiber, Power over Ethernet, Switches, Cloud technologies.
• Understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.
• History managing IoT intensive projects that integrated hardware and software across multiple physical locations. Cloud Certification
• Experience with transit-specific software and systems is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to work in matrixed organizations.

• Transit systems, technologies, and industry trend knowledge.
• Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and the ability to deliver beyond expectations.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams.
• Strong documentation practices, with ability to use Excel to create and manage lists of equipment, track its use and CAD / rendering tools to produce 2D site drawings.
• Strong documentation practices, with ability to produce technical drawings, schematics, or renderings that show equipment placement, electrical, and networking.
