Job Overview
We are currently seeking an IT Helpdesk Technician to join our IT Department. You will be responsible for support and assistance to our users located in the office here in Chattanooga, TN as well as those remote users in various area of the US. This role requires strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical staff.
Duties
- Set up and install PCs, monitors, and phones for users.
- Perform PC swaps for users, including imaging, setup, data transfer, and desk setup.
- Install, repair, and upgrade hardware/software as required on all systems.
- Troubleshoot Windows 10 and 11 operating systems, applications and networking functions.
- Work with the designated contacts for hardware and software support, when necessary.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues for computers and other office technology.
- Providing technical support and guidance for users both in person and remotely.
- Document, track, and monitor issues to ensure timely resolution utilizing the helpdesk ticketing system.
- Provide first-level support for hardware and software issues, assisting users in troubleshooting problems.
- Assist in the deployment of software applications.
- Collaborate with other IT team members to resolve complex technical issues effectively.
- Complete other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
Skills
- Strong analytical skills to assess problems and develop effective solutions.
- Solid understanding of computer networking concepts and protocols.
- Knowledge of software troubleshooting techniques across various platforms.
- Knowledge of computer hardware components and maintenance practices.
- Understanding of core LAN/WAN network technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Routing, switches, wiring, Wi-Fi) and firewall fundamentals.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience working with PC hardware and software.
- Proficient in desktop and laptop computer hardware components.
- Capable of troubleshooting general applications.
- Capable of troubleshooting and diagnosing hardware issues.
- Proficient operation of Microsoft Office applications (M365).
- Familiarity of Video Conferencing and Collaboration Systems is a plus.
- Strong verbal communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance and timeliness.
- Ability to adhere to established guidelines, stay organized and complete tasks efficiently.
- Self-driven, able to multitask, manage time effectively, and work well within a team or independently.
- Capable of lifting and carrying up to 40lbs (e.g. computer, monitor, miscellaneous equipment, etc.)
- Knowledge of FortiGate firewalls is a plus.
- Knowledge of layer 3 switches is a plus.
- Must be able to work onsite in office in Chattanooga, TN
