Position summary
T-Mobile is America’s supercharged Un-carrier, delivering an advanced 4G LTE and transformative nationwide 5G network that will offer reliable connectivity for all. Principal Architects, Systems located in Bellevue, WA will be responsible for envisioning and authoring the Technical Strategy, Enterprise and Systems Architecture, and Application Design for multiple strategic projects, driving the overall architectural design decisions for T-Mobile systems.

Position duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with senior management, business stakeholders, and senior architects to evangelize, build integrated technical solutions, and provide technical guidance to engineering teams.

  • Author and maintain architecture standards, design principles, frameworks, architecture diagrams, best practices, application designs, blueprints and implementation details for software and hardware systems.

  • Guide product and technology strategy by leveraging subject matter expertise and creating vision, strategy and technical roadmap to influence decision makers and senior management.

  • Analyze business requirements to create technical solutions and define non-functional requirements.

  • Create value chain analysis, estimations, impact assessment, process flows, sequence diagrams, logical/reference architecture, security standards, and Key Performance Indicators.

  • Implement and aid in proof of concepts, pilot solutions, rapid prototyping and drive software tools and product evaluations to suggest new tools and solutions at T-Mobile.

  • Research and create future architecture designs using Next-gen methodologies such as DevOps, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and cloud platforms.

  • Provide technical leadership andguidance to engineering teams andconduct code reviews, audits, coding support, advanced troubleshooting of software issues to drive implementations.

  • Partner with digital and domain architects for technical architecture, solution designs, evangelizing architecture principles and best practices across the organization.

  • Conduct market research on the latest technologies, best practices by participating in conferences, research forums to suggest new software tools, products and solutions for T-Mobile.

  • Telecommuting is permitted, but applicants must live within a reasonable commuting distance.

Skill requirements:

  • Creating enterprise architecture artifacts, including technology, application, data, and business architectures artifacts using architecture frameworks including TOGAF and Zachman.

  • Creating software solution designs and cloud architectures using cloud platforms Microsoft Azure and Amazon web services.

  • Designing and implementing DevOps tool integrations, automated flows, and other automation tools including Jira, Jenkins, Team Foundation Server, CI/CD pipelines, GitHub, Docker, Kubernetes, and Ansible.

  • Performing Software design, development, and analysis using Functional Design, Object Oriented Design, Design patterns, and SOLID principles.

  • Performing Data modeling, Data Warehouse design, creating logical and physical database design for both OLTP-Online transaction processing systems and OLAP-Online analytical processing systems.

  • Creating and defining data cubes, ETL programs utilizing Microsoft Analysis Server, Integration Server, Tableau, and PowerBI.

  • Performing Web development with Asp.Net, Web services, REST, JSON, XML, AngularJS, NodeJS, Microservices, Microsoft.Net, C-Sharp, C , VB.Net, and utilizing Agile and Scrum software development methodology.

Experience and education requirements:

PRIMARY REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in Applied Computer Science, or related field, or its foreign equivalent, and 5 years of relevant work experience

ALTERNATIVE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Applied Computer Science, or related field, or its foreign equivalent, and 7 years of relevant work experience.

OTHER: Work hours: 40 hours/week. Washington Pay Range: $188,947.35 - $193,947.35/year

The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the state listed. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience.

Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee’s eligible earnings in the prior year. Certain positions in Customer Care are eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual and/or team performance, while Retail and Business Sales roles are eligible for monthly or quarterly sales incentives.
