Title: Payroll Specialist

Duration: Full Time Employment

Location: Wakefield, MA

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of payroll (including straight and overtime wages; withholdings for federal, state, and local taxes; deductions for employee benefits and garnishments) and all associated records and systems maintenance.

- Processes and records payroll data accurately and on a timely basis

- Communicates with the Human Resources and Payroll Service Line (“SL”) to ensure the integrity of the payroll data including data related to new hires, terminations, transfers and rate changes. Makes updates as necessary.

- Processes special payrolls including the annual bonus and year-end adjustment payrolls

- Ensures that required state and federal payroll-related filing is completed as required

- Provides excellent customer service to managers, employees, and agencies by researching and resolving questions related to the processing of payroll information such as PCD, banking, garnishments, employment verifications, workers compensation, retroactive pay calculations, tax questions, and other changes

- Ensures compliance with internal controls in accordance with policy

- Looks for areas of process improvement to ensure efficient and effective processing

- Provides information for monthly key performance indicators

- Assists in special projects as required.

Educational Qualifications:

- Requires 2 years experience within the payroll function

- Associate Degree in Finance or Accounting helpful

- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is preferred

- Experience and competent in the use of ADP Workforce Now or the most current HRIS platform is preferred

- Experience and competent in the use of integrated ERP software (SAP experience helpful)

- Completes assignments on time and with a high degree of accuracy and completeness

- Ability to handle a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and constantly changing workload

- Identifies root causes of problems; generates and evaluates alternative solutions; implements problem resolutions quickly and effectively

- Experience working in a Shared Service Center preferred

- Competent Microsoft Office user (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook)

- Communicates information and ideas clearly, shares information broadly, and listens carefully

- Works collaboratively within a team
