CERTIFIED ATHLETIC TRAINER/ CAST TECH

BASIC FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:

1. Establishes contracts and marketing contracts with local affiliated high schools for coverage of designated events.
2. Schedules follow-up rehabilitation in accordance with the consulting Orthopedic Physician, if necessary.
3. Treats patients referred from the school setting in accordance with physicians’ prescription, treatment, and goals as establish Follows correct procedures with all treatments begun within ten minutes of patients’ arrival in Sports Medicine Department

1. Complete all required medical documentation regarding clinical treatment per policy and procedure.
2. Completes all logs daily and submits them to the Practice Manager weekly. 
3. Prepares written information when appropriate such as progress report for a patient to give to the physician for forthcoming office visit.
4. Attends staff meetings or reads and initials the minutes of the meeting, participates when appropriate
5. Available to other staff when not involved in own duties or off site covering local athletic events.
6. Participates in departmental land interdepartmental programs as required 
7. Participates in in-service activities
8. Rooming patients in orthopedic clinic 
9. Assisting physician/medieval with procedures 
10. Setting up procedures, injections 
11. Cast/ DME Tech casting /splinting/applying DME 
12. Order DME
13. Submit DME patient tickets to restart in a timely matter (i.e., orders, closet tickets)
14. Makes sure that all paperwork and EHR completed after each cast or DME done.
15. Stock cast supplies /order supplies 
16. Any other duties as assigned by the practice manager, physician, PA, NP

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

LICENSE:

CREDENTIALS: certified by the National Athletic Trainer’s Association.

EXPERIENCE: casting/splinting a plus

SPECIAL:

PATIENT CONTACT: Ability to meet and establish appropriate rapport with patients of all ages.

PHYSICAL: 

STANDING: Ability to stand for extended periods.

SITTING/DRIVING: Ability to sit in a car for extended periods of time. 

WALKING: Must have the mobility to move to various areas throughout the workday.

LIFTING: Ability to assist in lifting patients of all sizes.

VISUAL: Vision correctable to 20/20

HEARING: Hearing within normal limits

SPEAKING: Ability to do public speaking, hold in-service classes for physicians, patients, and co-workers, and to communicate with hospital staff effectively.
