Tacoma Equine Hospital's team consists of veterinarians, veterinary assistants, and office staff who all share a passion for providing quality, top-notch care for horses from all walks of life. We are a full-service, multi-doctor veterinary practice offering ambulatory and clinical appointments as well as 24/7 emergency service throughout South Puget Sound.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide exceptional support to the veterinary team
• Handle & restrain a variety of horses for exams & procedures
• Jog horses in-hand and longe for lameness evaluations
• Prepare for and assist with radiographs, diagnostics, & a variety of procedures, including elective surgeries
• Stock and maintain tidiness of vet trucks
• Drive to appointments
• Anticipate the needs of the veterinarian, ensuring that they have the proper equipment, medications, and supplies ready and available
• Assist in maintaining inventory
• Clean & maintain equipment & facilities
• Interact with clients in a professional, friendly manner

Our Ideal Candidate Must:

• Have excellent horse handling skills and experience working with, owning, or competing a variety of horses
• Have excellent attention to detail & a great attitude
• Have the ability to adapt to a changing schedule and work well under pressure
• Be physically fit and able to jog horses in-hand for extended periods of time, stand for long periods of time, and carry up to 50 pounds for a short distance
• Be able to follow verbal instructions properly
• Have a valid US driver's license
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent

Compensation & Benefits Package:

• Wage: $18-21 per hour for Veterinary Assistant Level 1, dependent on qualifications and experience (applicant may be considered for a higher level, if applicable)

• Part-time employees (<30 hours per week) are able to enroll in our company's 401K plan. Employees will also accrue paid sick leave in accordance with WA state law and, after 1 year of employment, will accrue paid vacation at a rate of 1 hour for every 52 hours worked after their first year.

Shifts & Schedules:

• Part-Time: Fridays plus up to 2 additional weekdays if desired, 8-10 hours a day
