Tahoe Forest Products LLC is Hiring an Accounting Manager Near Carson, NV

DescriptionTahoe Forest Products (TFP) was formed for the purpose of constructing a commercial sawmill in the Tahoe region to offer a nearby destination to deliver salvaged timber. TFP is dedicated to the responsible commercial milling of logs sourced within our region. Our operations supports forest health as part of critical fire fuels reduction efforts on public and private land, and in the salvage, clean-up and restoration of local areas impacted by devastating wildfires.

We are currently recruiting to fill the position of Controller. The Controller is responsible for the management of the General Ledger accounting and reconciliations, the management of the monthly closing process, and the supervision of the accounting staff.
Essential Job Functions may include the following or other duties as assigned:
Job Accountabilities
  • Guiding financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Protecting assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
  • Monitoring and confirming financial condition by conducting audits and providing information to external auditors.
  • Achieving budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Providing status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
  • Complying with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Completing financial requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results and ensuring tasks are completed timely and accurately.
  • Managing the accounting staff’s results by recruiting, training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Protecting operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
Key Functions Include
  • General Ledger – oversee all activities related to the maintenance of GL accounts and recons, including all necessary research, analysis and reviews to ensure accuracy of the GL.
  • Month/Year-end closing – oversee and ensure a timely period closing including analytical reviews of significant accounts, transactions, and journal entries.
  • Reporting – prepare all financial statements & packages for review by management.
  • Accounting – oversee and manage accounting process and procedures for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventories & General Ledger.
  • Fixed Assets – assist with the maintenance and tracking of CIP, capitalization of projects and depreciation process. Assist with property tax, Sales/Use tax returns and other ad hoc reports.
  • Supervise accounting staff and ensure daily, weekly, monthly & yearly processes get completed accurately and timely.
  • ERP system – serve as on-site ERP “champion” user and assist/train other individuals on the use, problem solving and security and integrity of the system.
  • Budget – assist with the development of the annual plan which consists of working with department heads & management to review current spending levels in order to build the base for future periods.
  • Other – assist with audit process, internal controls procedures, and other duties (as assigned).
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration with an emphasis in Accounting, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in financial position with increasing responsibility.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) license preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills; experience in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and experience with an ERP system implementation ideal.
  • Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills—commitment to high standards required.
  • Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations.
  • Analytical ability to develop and implement improvements or recommendations.
  • Self-starter with an attention to detail and ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
  • Able to work well with senior executives and team, as well as mentor/lead other team members

Work is performed primarily in an office environment, but employee will be required as needed to be in the plant manufacturing environment. Verbal and written communication with employee groups, plant stakeholders and vendors is a frequent expectation. The employee must have high mobility and dexterity due to expanse of operations and be able to climb stairs and walk long distances. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
