Job Summary: The Member Communication and Engagement Manager plays a critical role in our Tahoe Mountain Club organization. Their core responsibility is to create and manage all communications to our membership including website content, email and SMS campaigns, and individual venue signage. Member event management and execution is a pivotal part of the role. They will be responsible for conceptualizing creative events, marketing to membership to inspire participation, plan and execute each event at a high level from start to finish. The right candidate will design a highly engaging yearly calendar of events that build community and engagement among Membership with the Club to ensure retention and drive new Membership inquiries. Within this, the Member Communication and Engagement Manager is expected to build and maintain strong Member relationships, manage all logistics to ensure execution excellence, ensure promotion and awareness of Club activities, and provide clear plans, updates, and post-program analysis to the organization. Superior communication and professionalism both internally and externally - is required as is someone with a fine attention to detail and understanding of who our Membership is, where they come from, and what they are looking for. The Member Communication and Engagement Manager and their plans will be the inspiration behind why Members choose to spend their time with TMC, and how TMC can proactively be the catalyst to Unlocking Unforgettable Mountain Moments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all Membership communication including mass emails, direct emails, SMS messaging, website copywriting and management of the online events calendar. This includes the TMC Winter Guide, Summer Guide, Kid’s Club website and the Membership website.
  • Assist with the Men’s and Ladies’ Golf Club Event coordination and marketing.
  • Create and execute production of all event promotion signage.
  • Assist Marketing and Insights Manager and General Manager with Social Media campaign management.
  • Build an Annual Engagement Plan spanning all seasons that promotes increased participation and retention across all our Membership types.
  • Develop plan for execution of Annual Engagement Plan, inclusive of all elements from resource needs and décor to cross-functional department support and budgets.
  • Manage Member event registration and ticketing.
  • Elements within all scheduled events and ongoing Club activities include:
    • Promote, attend, host, guide, and capture content.
    • Set-up and breakdown with assistance of Member Services and Recreation Manager, Banquets staff, and Facilities Maintenance Public Area Attendant Supervisor as warranted.
    • Budgeting and cost-tracking/management to budget.
    • Coordination and acquisition of special supplies, equipment, and transportation needed for execution.
    • Coordinate with Leadership for approval on all spending and necessary contracts.
    • Organize and communicate in an effective and professional manner with all appropriate departments and venues to ensure collaboration and seamless execution.
    • Manage scheduling of talent needed for events (i.e. bands, performers, guest speakers, etc.).
    • Ensures all pre-program and post-program paperwork is completed promptly, including billing and invoices, Member billing, and vendor payment.
  • Organize/Manage storage and tracking of event materials inventory.
  • Ensure strong relationship with cross-departmental l teams.
  • Identify areas of efficiency and embody an insatiable drive for excellence in execution.
  • Be detail-oriented, creative, and familiar with managing a budget.
  • Craft event messaging and communication.
  • Follows all company and safety and security policies and procedures; reports any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries to Human Resources and Director of Facilities Maintenance.
  • Other duties as needed.
Because of the fluctuating demands of the Club’s operation, it may be necessary that each employee perform a multitude of different functions; therefore, as an essential part of your job, you will be expected to help others when the occasion arises, just as other employees are expected to help you. Accordingly, you may be expected to perform other tasks, not specifically addressed above.
Reports to: General Manager.
Supervises: No direct supervisory duties are required of this position; however, the ability collaborate cross departmentally and direct event staff in a professional, courteous, respectful manner is required.

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree and 5-6 years of experience with marketing, communication, event planning, management, and execution is required. Proven strength in communications is required, as is connectedness with and knowledge of the Tahoe Truckee area.
Language/Communication: Must be able to work as part of a team and maintain open communication with leadership, cross-functional Crew members, and external support staff. Must display a professional demeanor and always communicate in a professional manner. Must have excellent leadership skills as they will be required to create and execute the Club’s Member engagement plans. Availability, and desire, to work on a variety of social events that typically fall on nights, weekends, and some holidays is a must for this position.
Certificates/Licenses: State accredited Alcohol Training Certification and supervisor harassment prevention training is required within 30 days of employment.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and 5-6 years of experience with event planning, management, and execution is required. Must be a proven self-starter.
  • Excellent communication skills and a connected knowledge of the Tahoe Truckee is required.
  • Strong copywriting skills, website management, graphic design and email marketing.
  • Detail oriented and able to organize and keep track of all member engagement inventory.
  • Proven self-starter.
  • Self-motivated to drive change.
  • Be able to independently manger individual workload.
  • Be an independent thinker with the ability to generate new ideas consistently and frequently.
  • Be present and ready to breakdown, set up and execute all member events.
