Talascend seeks a Senior Substation Engineer for our EPC client, a nationwide technical services company. This is a direct position, 100% on-site. The ideal candidate resides in Baton Rouge, LA, Westlake OR Houston, TX. Relocation support is available.

Overview:
As the leader of a project team, the Senior Substation Engineer performs engineering and design duties as well as organizes all activities required for the development and implementation of high voltage electrical substation projects across a multidisciplinary team of drafters, designers, and various levels of engineers. The Senior Substation Engineer drives project schedules and budgets for multiple projects at a time and functions as a Company contact for clients and vendors.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the design, construction, and maintenance of high voltage substations and switchyards
• Oversee installation, repair, and replacement of substation equipment like power transformers, circuit breakers, switches, etc.
• Supervise engineers and technicians working on substation projects
• Review substation designs, drawings, and documents for compliance with regulations and standards
• Help troubleshoot issues with substation equipment and coordinate emergency repairs
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• 10 years of experience working on high voltage (>138kV) electrical substation components and their functions.
• Strong Knowledge and understanding of engineering standards including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI
• Strong knowledge and understanding of three phase power systems, per-unit mathematics, and symmetrical components
• In-depth knowledge of substation equipment, design documents, and safety standards
• Professional Engineering (PE) license or the ability to obtain one
• Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills
• Must be eligible to work for any employer in the USA without sponsorship.
