Overview:
Birdsong Hearing Benefits LLC, (BHB) is a hearing benefits manager that views hearing care as total care. We provide Medicare Advantage, including all lines of business in government programs, along with commercial solutions for the most under-utilized supplemental benefit: Hearing.
The Staff Accountant for BHB will perform and support the Controllership function within our organization. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is comfortable using analytics. The Staff Accountants primary responsibilities include preparing journal entries, financial reports, account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, supporting internal control initiatives, assisting with the financial statement audit, and performing other accounting duties as assigned. The Staff Accountant will collaborate with the Senior Accountant to ensure accurate and complete financial reporting of the business units associated with Birdsong Hearing Benefits.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Prepare journal entries for BHB and related entities by completing monthly, quarterly, and annual closing duties.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and analysis.
- Prepare financial statements for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the improvement of existing accounting processes and systems with the mindset of optimization, automation, and scalability.
- Support the documentation of accounting policies and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Assist with internal controls initiatives to enhance the current internal control environment.
- Support the financial statement audit and the resolution of audit issues.
- Support the preparation of federal, state, local, and special tax returns.
- Perform other accounting duties and support staff as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
- At least two years of financial/accounting experience, preferably in the healthcare industry.
- Proficient experience with ERP systems.
- High integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with non-technical administrators.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking skills and sharp attention to detail.
- Consistently demonstrate professional verbal and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Proficient with the following systems required: Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
- An Associates degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required; however, a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
