The Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant assumes responsibility and accountability for the delivery of appropriate physical therapy services within a framework of Interdisciplinary collaboration and consultation.

Services are furnished under the supervision of a qualified Licensed Physical Therapist.

Essential Functions :

• Administers the physical therapy treatment plan as developed by the Physical Therapist.
• Administers non-complex active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, traction heat, light, cold, water and electrical modalities to patients.
• Accurately documents daily, weekly or monthly records of clients' status. Submits clinical paperwork to the office on time each week.
• Attends educational meetings and coordinates and contributes to department in-services.
• Notifies physical therapist, Clinical Manager or Branch / Clinical Director of any equipment failures, lack of supplies, staff or client changes and any other departmental changes.
• Schedules clients and performs varied office tasks.
• Applies concepts of infection control and universal precautions in performing patient care activities.
• Accepts clinical assignments that are consistent with education and competence to care for patients.
• Promotes compliance with all fiscal intermediaries and / or other third party payors, through education, coaching and other assistance as necessary.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

• Must read, write and speak fluent English.

Current state license to practice Physical Therapy - Required

Education

Graduate of an accredited school of physical therapy assistant with an Associate Degree in Physical Therapy - Required
