Title: Technical Writer Duration: 6 Months Location: Round Rock, TX (Hybrid - 2 days onsite)
Description:
ACCOUNTABILITIES A Writes, edits and proofs hardcopy and online documents for consistency. Examples: reference documents for hardware and software products, code, user interface tests, white papers, Application Program Interface and Command Line Interface Documentation, online help systems. A Ensures all deliverables are technically and mechanically accurate. A Collaborates with department team members, engineering, marketing, services, legal, regulatory and others to develop content for standard documentation sets, software and special initiatives in-line with the development cycle. A Creates and manages document schedules, content management, and information architecture. A Defines processes for content modification, content globalization, content sensitivity, content accessibility / disability (508). A Maintains content, tools, application access, account administration, and workflow administration. A More experienced writers may train outside business groups as needed on tools, applications, reporting, and content workflow needs. A Defines, ratifies, documents and monitors Dell documentation management processes and procedures to comply with ISO and internal quality standards. RESPONSIBILITIES A Providing strategic direction for a line of business. A Edits engineering white papers. A Content analysis and reuse strategy of current documentation. A Designs, organizes, integrates, and transforms content for improving results for globalization reuse and leverage. A Designs standards for authoring tools, content structure environments and CMS administration. A Creates the mechanisms to support the content development and delivery. A Ability to manage multiple projects that are highly complex in scope that encompasses various levels of the business. A Trains, coaches and mentors team members. A Coordinates, manages and resolves complex escalations for the team. A Influences cross-functional teams. A Provides quality metrics to senior management. A Ability to execute frameworks and templates for content management systems. A Focuses on a strategic vision for a line of business or a generation of a product. A Performs as a strategist and information architect within the department. A Stays abreast of industry standards, tools, trends, and ability to leverage for internal use.

The Team: Tech Writers will work with 5 designers, 6 leaders (director level) and various PMs.
What you'll achieve: As a Technical Writer, IT Product Design for the AI/Client Platform, you are responsible for helping shape the user experiences for our platform. You will collaborate with product owners, engineers, and designers to create and manage internal and customer-facing documentation around application and component usage for various platform products and services. Your compelling and informative content will educate, engage, and empower our users to leverage the full potential of our platform. As a Technical Writer, the candidate will be part of our Gen AI Platform engineering team that is spearheading Dell's Digital Transformation. The team is focused on driving innovation in the way we deliver advanced AI and Client technologies using Gen AI. This will help our business units deliver improvements across our entire customer experience and optimize our business outcomes.
Responsibilities: -Craft clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation to facilitate the understanding and usage of our AI/Client platform tools and services for our internal customers -Edit, format, and maintain technical software documentation and other copy around AI/Client software tools, services, and components across multiple touchpoints. Materials include user guides, API documentation, developer guides, release notes, and tutorials -Translate complex technical concepts into accessible and user-friendly language, ensuring documentation meets the needs of various audience types, from novice users to experienced developers -Support customer communications related to product and documentation updates -Assist in the development of training materials and resources to support internal customers in effectively utilizing the AI/Client platform -Collaborate with global team members to gather input and refine documentation throughout the iterative writing process -Advocate, define, and document best practices in user experience design, copy, and accessibility throughout Dell -Conduct user research to improve documentation and address user needs
Requirements: -12-14 years of relevant experience -Demonstrated knowledge of written communication skills and short- and long-form copy, including grammar and composition rules -Experience working with software applications and development (or equivalent product experience within the technology industry) -Demonstrated ability to convey complex technical information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences -Portfolio showcasing technical-writing focused samples or case studies that showcase your process and impact -Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines
Desirable Requirements: -Understanding of content strategy, UX writing and UX design principles -Familiarity with AI/Client concepts, practices, and tools -Experience working in a customer-focused, agile product development model -Familiarity with documentation management and publishing tools
Location: 1 position will require to be onsite a few days a week in Round Rock, TX working in a hybrid role. The other position can be fully remote. Duration: Possible extension past listed end date but not guaranteed Hours: Standard business hours 8am-5pm - occasionally will be required to attend meetings outside of standard business hours to meet with global teams
