POSITION OVERVIEW

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is responsible for oversight of enterprise-wide information technology (IT), business intelligence, cyber security, and technology solutions. The CIO plays a critical role in driving digital transformation, innovation, and strategic growth initiatives within AAA Western and Central New York, leveraging technology as a key enabler of success.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Planning : Develop and implement strategic plans for the technology roadmap and IT infrastructure and systems, aligned with the overall business goals and objectives.

Technology Leadership : Provide visionary leadership in the adoption and integration of technology solutions to enhance organizational efficiency, innovation, and competitiveness.

IT Governance : Establish and enforce IT governance policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance, security, and risk management.

Technology Integration: Develop and maintain accurate, reliable and timely software and systems integration.

Budgeting and Resource Allocation : Develop and manage the IT budget, allocating resources effectively to support current operations and future growth initiatives.

Vendor Management : Evaluate and select third-party vendors and technology partners, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships to ensure the delivery of quality products and services.

Cybersecurity : Develop and implement cybersecurity strategies to protect the organization's digital assets, data, and infrastructure from potential threats and breaches.

Business Intelligence : Oversee the management and governance of data assets, including data quality, integrity, privacy, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Infrastructure Management : Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, storage, and cloud services.

Digital Transformation : Lead initiatives to digitize processes, optimize workflows, and leverage emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, and machine learning to drive innovation and business growth.

Collaboration and Communication : Foster collaboration and communication between IT and other business lines/departments to align technology initiatives with organizational objectives and ensure stakeholder buy-in and support.

Talent Development: Recruit, develop, and retain top IT talent, building a high-performing team capable of executing strategic objectives and delivering value to the organization.

Continuous Improvement : Drive a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the IT department, regularly evaluating processes, technologies, and practices to identify opportunities for optimization and enhancement.

Executive Reporting: Provide regular reports and updates to the executive leadership team and board of directors on IT strategy, performance, risks, and opportunities.

Regulatory Compliance : Stay abreast of regulatory requirements and industry best practices related to IT governance, cybersecurity, data privacy, and other relevant areas, ensuring the organization remains compliant.

Change Management : Lead change management initiatives to facilitate the adoption of new technologies and processes, minimize disruption, and maximize the benefits of IT investments.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in technical related field required.

Master's in Business Administration (MBA) or a Master's in Information Systems Management (MISM) preferred.

Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in IT-related positions, including management and strategic planning roles.

QUALIFICATIONS

Significant experience in IT executive level leadership with experience in core technology at the Enterprise level.

Technical Skills:

o A strong understanding of information technology systems, infrastructure, and architecture is crucial. This includes knowledge of networking, cloud computing, cybersecurity, enterprise software, and database management.

o Familiarity with emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning.

o Salesforce Implementation & Oversight required.

o Experience in change of core ERP systems required.

o A strong understanding of cloud-based systems integration Mulesoft or other API management frameworks are highly desirable.

o Software Quality Assurance Business Acumen:

o Skills in financial management, contract negotiations, budgeting, and cost optimization.

o Regulatory Compliance: (including PCI, HIPAA, NYS DFS, GDPR and equivalent)

Leadership and Communication:

o Strong executive presence is essential for guiding and motivating high performing IT teams, fostering collaboration, and driving organizational change.

o Excellent communication skills are necessary for conveying technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, building relationships with other departments, and advocating for IT initiatives at the executive and board of director level.

Strategic Vision:

o Must possess strategic thinking abilities to anticipate future technology trends, identify opportunities for innovation, and develop long-term IT roadmaps that support business growth and competitiveness.

o Evaluate risks and opportunities associated with new technologies and make informed decisions that align with the organization's goals and objectives.
