The TECO Energy Internship & Cooperative Education Program offers college degree-seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company. The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The co-op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study.
Position Summary/Details: This Coop position is with the Electrical System Reliability Team. The position will include working at various generation facilities including Solar facilities.
Accountabilities:
  • Data Collection: Collecting and reviewing technical data, field data, reports, and drawings.
  • Data Analysis: Evaluating historical alarms, events, records, and test reports.
  • Quality Checks: Review and update existing regulatory and compliance process and policy documents, training records.
  • Process Improvement: Training material development and improvements using IT tools, development of compliance workflows and processes.
  • Work Management and IT Support/Development: Creating and maintaining Work Orders and dashboards.
  • Asset Management Support: Assist reliability teams in development and implementation of maintenance strategies.
  • Administrative and Project Management Support: Organize and schedule meetings, assist with creating and transmitting correspondences, support with developing and maintaining project related databases and reports. Monitor numerous tasks to ensure deadlines are not missed.
Physical Location of Co-op: Big Bend Power Station, 13031 Wyandotte Rd, Gibsonton, FL 33534
Working Conditions: This position will require a 100% onsite presence as this role supports Energy Supply Operations with occasional in-field work at power plants and solar facilities.
Preferred Availability: Part – Time (20-30 hours)
QUALIFICATIONS: Education: The successful applicant should be enrolled in an accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline.
Co-Op Requirements:
  • To qualify as a co-op student, enrollment in the university’s co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
Degree : Business, Computer Science, IT or related.
Year in School : Junior or Senior
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Required:
    • MS Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, etc.
    • Project Management & Organizational skills
    • Interpreting and implementing technical standards.
  • Preferred:
    • IT Systems: Multimedia and Analytical tools
    • SharePoint
    • PowerBI
    • ERP Work Management systems (i.e. Workman)
    • Microsoft Visio
    • Microsoft Project
