Tandym Group is Hiring a Benefits Manager Near New York, NY

A New York City healthcare organization is currently seeking a new Benefits Manager to join their team in Brooklyn. In this role, the Benefits Manager will be responsible for assisting and administering benefits policies and plans in accordance with hospital policy, plan provisions and government regulations.
Responsibilities:The Benefits Manager will:

  • Manage the transition process support for departing employees, including conducting exit interviews, revoking system access, and ensuring a smooth transition of position, pay, benefits and duties to the hospital. Provide support for knowledge transfer and address any post-departure inquiries.
  • Oversee the full cycle of semi-monthly payroll processing using ADP payroll systems. Ensure accuracy and timeliness of payroll, including deductions, bonuses, and other payroll elements.
  • Manage the processing of bonus payments for providers through ADP payroll. Ensure accurate calculations and timely disbursement of bonuses.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to monitor payroll funding. Ensure sufficient funds are available for payroll and resolve any funding discrepancies promptly.
  • Prepare and submit payroll statistics reports to the Department of Labor (DOL) as required. Ensure accuracy and compliance with DOL reporting requirements.
  • Handle requests for employment verification from third parties, ensuring timely and accurate responses while maintaining employee privacy.
  • Review and process invoices related to payroll, benefits, and other organizational expenses. Process check requests and ensure timely payment to vendors.
  • Maintain accurate records of vendors, including contact information, contracts, and payment histories. Ensure timely updates and compliance with organizational policies.
  • Oversee the administration of fully insured small group employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, retirement, and other voluntary benefits. Ensure accurate enrollment, processing and benefits transfer to hospital as needed
  • Manage the enrollment process for employee benefits and transfers. Communicate plan options to employees, assist with enrollment questions, and ensure accurate processing of enrollments.
  • Administer COBRA benefits for eligible former employees. Ensure accurate and timely processing of COBRA enrollments, terminations, and premium payments. Reconcile COBRA accounts to maintain compliance.
  • Oversee the preparation, approval, and filing of Forms 1095-C and 1094-C to ensure compliance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Maintain accurate records and address any discrepancies.
  • Prepare and submit credible coverage reports to Medicare, ensuring compliance with federal regulations. Maintain accurate records of coverage and communicate updates to employees as needed.
  • Coordinate the annual workers' compensation audit. Ensure accurate reporting of employee data, payroll information, and any incidents or claims. Address any discrepancies and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Administer the organization's 401k plan, including enrollment, deferral changes, loan processing, and distributions. Ensure compliance with plan documents and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and file Form 5500 for the 401k plan, ensuring accuracy and timely submission. Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and address any issues that arise during the filing process.
  • Prepare & Transmit 401k Deferrals to Record-Keeper: Accurately prepare and transmit 401k deferral information to the plan record-keeper. Ensure timely processing of deferrals and address any discrepancies promptly.
  • Provide ad-hoc reports as requested by management or other departments. Analyze data, identify trends, and present findings to support decision-making processes.
  • Prepare and submit Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) reports. Ensure accuracy in reporting and compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties, as needed

Critical Skills Required:

  • Small Group HR and Benefits Expertise (One HR for All) for ~50-200 employee group experience at least 3 years. Possess in-depth knowledge of human resources practices, Payroll and benefits administration
  • Small Group Detail-Oriented In Person Customer Service Support for ~50-200 employee group experience at least 3 years
  • Demonstrate strong customer service HR skills. Pay attention to detail in managing HR data, payroll processing, benefits administration, reconciliation processes, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Exhibit effective communication skills to HR/Benefits Processing to both employees, and management, ensuring clear and effective information exchange.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork = Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively. Act as the main personnel for small group (50-200 employee) to process and address HR data, payroll, benefits issues to develop comprehensive solutions that meet employee needs and organizational objectives.
  • Technical Proficiency = Show proficiency in using benefits administration software and tools. Familiarity with payroll systems and their integration with benefits management to ensure seamless operations and accurate data management.
  • Invoice Processing, People Soft HR benefits administration processing Skill and Self-Starter

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience working for an Insurance company and/or a company's Benefits Department
  • Demonstrated experience in benefits billing, benefits customer service and day to day benefits processing
  • Exceptional listening, written and oral skills
  • Strong interpersonal (cooperation, teamwork, sensitivity) and organizational skills
  • Computer proficiency
  • Ability to resolve difficult or complicated challenges
  • Ability to make independent decisions
  • Commitment to learning and self-improvement
