POSITION:Support Service Specialist

SALARY:$20.00, per hour

REPORTS TO: Program Supervisor

LOCATION:TANF Nespelem, WA

Basic Functions:This position is responsible to assist the TANF Social Worker as needed in the processing of support services, correspondence and case noting case action in TAS. Provides information regarding the options, rights, regulations and services available. Interprets and applies knowledge of TANF policies and procedures in the resolution of inquiries, requests and complaints. Non-Exempt

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Training:

• Typically requires Associates degree with emphasis in, Business Administration, Social Work, Human Services, or related field; OR
• Substituting on a month for month basis, a combination of work experience AND higher education totaling forty-eight months (courses must be directly related to the duties of this position.)
• Ability to understand and implement policies and procedures.
• Must have basic knowledge of Welfare Reform.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and complete multiple assignments with minimal supervision.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships, communication with population served, general public, co-workers and governmental representatives.
• Ability to work under stressful situations and handle conflicts, complaints, and other problems in a professional and courteous manner.
• Ability to communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing.
• Working knowledge of computer use and software.
• Demonstrated ability to address and resolve conflict in a timely and professional manner.
• Demonstrated experience maintaining STRICT confidentiality of program and client information.
• Maintain client files in an orderly manner.
• Authorize accurate payments on behalf of program participants.
• Attend staff meetings as scheduled.

Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.

TRIBAL MEMBER AND INDIAN PREFERENCE WILL APPLY; PREFERENCE WILL ALSO BE GIVEN TO HONORABLY DISCHARGED VETERANS WHO ARE MINIMALLY QUALIFIED.

If required of this position, you must possess and maintain avalid Washington State drivers license and be eligible for the Tribes Vehicle Insurance. In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances. If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
