As a Director of Health Information Management (HIM) for the Vista Hospitals in Devens, Massachusetts and Holyoke, Massachusetts you’ll bring your experience and knowledge where your voice matters. The position ensures responsibility for our medical records and our facilities risk management. In exchange, we will care for you as much as you care for our patients.

How You Care for Our Patients

As the Director HIM:

• Responsible for the budgeting, monitoring, planning, and directing of the Medical Records and keeping up to date on various regulatory codes such as HIPAA and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).

• Design and manage health information systems to ensure they meet medical, legal, and ethical standards.

• In accordance with regulatory bodies collect and analyze patient data, ensuring accuracy of patient records to confirm data integrity and support proper reimbursement.

• Oversees the ongoing activities related to the development, implementation, maintenance of and adherence to the organization’s policies and procedures covering the privacy of, and access to patient health information in compliance with federal and state laws and the organizations information privacy practices.

• Takes charge of ensuring proper risk management to reduce risk in the hospital setting.

• Reviews the facility’s incidences and determines the risks which must be controlled or eliminated.

• Gathers data from the hospital’s past incidences and analyzes it to determine the challenges the facility might face later.

• Develops strategies while complying with hospital policies for ongoing risk reduction and control.

• Informs the staff of training programs on risk assessment, reduction, and control.

• Reviews patient-related complaints and responds according to regulatory requirements.

You Bring Meaningful Experience

Successful candidates will have the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field, preferred.

• At least 5 years of experience working in HIM Director role with risk management experience.

• Well versed in the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health and Joint Commission. regulatory requirement for in-patient psychiatric hospitals.

• Have knowledge and experience in Risk and Compliance.

• Sufficient typing and computer skills to facilitate use of Electronic Health Record required; experience with Electronic Health Record preferred.

• Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
