Job Summary:

The Property Accountant is responsible for managing all financial aspects related to our property portfolio. This role involves ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and providing insightful financial analysis to support property management and investment decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:

• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties.
• Ensure all financial statements are in compliance with GAAP.
• Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts for properties.
• Monitor variances between actual results and budgets/forecasts, providing explanations for significant discrepancies.

Lease Administration:

• Maintain and update lease records in the accounting system.
• Ensure accurate calculation and recording of lease payments, including escalations, renewals, and terminations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA or working towards CPA designation preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in property management or real estate.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Yardi) and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
