Job Description

Job Description

We are hiring experienced lead carpenters for consistent full-time work for multiple high-end residential renovation projects in Manhattan.

ABOUT US:
We are an established and very busy high-end residential general contracting company with several active projects in Manhattan.

ABOUT YOU:
You are energetic, responsive and have a can-do attitude. You take pride in the quality of your workmanship and enjoy getting projects completed. You pay attention to the details of your work.

In addition to being a skilled carpenter, capable of performing rough and finish carpentry for residential gut renovations, you are comfortable managing and overseeing a crew to complete carpentry projects within budget and schedule.

You present yourself professionally and work well with other carpenters and trades on the job site.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing rough and finish carpentry (framing, sheetrock, cornerbead, base and crown molding, hanging doors and windows and casing) to expected quality standards.

  • Overseeing and directing project crew members to complete carpentry phases for gut renovations (framing, sheetrock, installing doors, trim, punch list, etc.) and making sure carpentry work is performed properly and meets expected quality standards.

  • Assisting in the coordination of carpentry work with that of other trades.

  • Generating material orders on a weekly basis for the following week.

  • Interacting with site visitors (inspectors, building staff, clients, designers, architects, etc.) in absence of the Project Manager.

Skills:

  • Ability to read plans and build from plans independently.

  • Delegation and coordination to use labor effectively and efficiently.

  • Teaching more junior carpenters to improve rough and finish carpentry standards.

  • Material takeoffs for framing, sheetrock, doors and trim.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English - both written and spoken.

You will be expected to perform a skills test in these areas.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 5 years of prior work experience in construction.

  • Have your own tools.

  • Authorization to work in the U.S.

  • Understand and communicate in English - both in person and via phone/text message.

  • Move up to 50 lbs.

  • Must be prompt and reliable.

OSHA-30 certified preferred but not required.

WORK HOURS: Monday - Friday, 9 am - 5 pm with possibility of some overtime.

PERKS: 1 week paid vacation and discretionary year-end bonus based on individual and team performance.

Position available immediately.
Please include your name, the position you are applying for and the approximate time you can be available on Tuesday or Friday.
