TDS Telecom is Hiring a Senior Media Consultant Near Bend, OR

Overview

The Senior Media Consultant will be responsible for selling results-oriented advertising and marketing solutions to regional, national and local transactional clients. This position will represent 2 broadcast and 34 cable networks including ABC, CBS, Food Network, ESPN, Fox News Channel, HGTV, TBS and TNT, among others, in addition to a robust Digital platform and The Central Oregon Visitors Network. This position will be responsible for negotiating superior shares of transactional business using, but not limited to, Comscore and Nielsen. The individual in this position will possess a deep understanding of audience measurement across Zolo's platforms as well as those of Zolo's broadcast competitors. New business development will be a component of this position's responsibility but will be limited to those accounts who work through an advertising agency and go through a transactional, ratings-driven buying process.

The pay range listed for this position represents the low and high end of the base compensation range. The actual offer amount will carefully consider multiple factors, such as relevant skills, qualifications, work experience, location and/or competencies that align with the specified role. Certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses and equity awards.

Responsibilities

  • Generate revenue and meet monthly sales goals through proven, effective sales techniques, primarily inside but with occasional market visits which could include but are not limited to Portland, Eugene, Medford, and Seattle. This includes: Working with transactional agencies to ensure that their representatives are well versed on both our products and ratings stories as well as knowledge of our Designated Market Area.. Matching the client with various advertising and marketing opportunities available through Central Oregon Daily.
  • Creating strategies that represent overall solutions to present to the client.
  • Retaining and growing business from currently active clients.
  • Processing of weekly pre-empts for regional/national clients and advising agencies of make-good offers.
  • Working cooperatively with other departments to represent the interests of advertisers without compromising core company values.
  • Prospect new business opportunities through cold calling, networking and referrals on specific accounts which are handled by an agency and are transactional in nature. Develop new business through selling commercial advertising time and digital strategies by reaching out to regional and national businesses. Develop strategies, tactics, and processes for effective sales lead generation, sales follow-through, customer relationship management, and client retention.
  • Assist management in the creation and distribution of rate cards, sales materials, sports packages, etc. Coordinating with Sales Support Weekly via scheduled meetings to update programming, research ratings to maintain revenue value.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) -OR- 4 years of professional work experience.
  • 3 years of sales experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation and insurance.

Other Qualifications

  • A minimum of ten years of experience in broadcast and/or cable media sales with a minimum of five years of transactional sales experience is preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of television ratings methodologies, demographics, quantitative and qualitative audience measurement techniques and interpretation of that data to help grow revenue among transactionally negotiated advertising sales.
  • A minimum of five years of experiencing with EC (electronic contracting) to interact with transactional clients including avails, makegoods, under delivery weight, etc. is preferred.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
  • Advanced level PC skills including word processing, PowerPoint, Outlook, and spreadsheet applications.
  • Excellent communication skills and an enthusiastic and outgoing personality.
  • Strong judgment, decision making, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to professionally interact with customers and co-workers; advanced written, verbal and presentation skills with acute degree of social perceptiveness.
  • Strong work ethic with a willingness and ability to work weekend and evening events.
  • Must be team oriented and customer focused; cultural fit within the existing sales organization will be ongoing requirement.
  • Unwavering commitment to quality and excellent customer service.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, write and operate a computer keyboard, standard office equipment and telephone. The associate regularly communicates with associates and managers. The associate is frequently required to move about and reach for items. The associate may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Associates scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week have access to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, a 401(k) plan, and paid time off benefits such as vacation (15 days accrued per year for full-time; pro-rated for part-time associates working between 20-39 hours), sick leave (10 days accrued per year for full-time and pro-rated for all other associates), seven paid national holidays and one floating holiday, paid parental leave (2 weeks after 12 months of employment), among others. Short Term Disability and Long Term Disability coverage is also available for associates working 30 or more hours per week and Education Assistance is available to full-time associates.
