TE Connectivity (TE) has an opportunity for a Global Assembly and Automation Equipment Leader for the Industrial and Commercial Transportation (ICT) Business Unit (BU) with strong technical and team working capabilities in establishing global integrated automation platforms in a leading electrical component manufacturing company.
This position reports to the Global Manufacturing Engineering (GME) Director and is responsible for establishing and executing an ICT global manufacturing equipment strategy, supporting development of the ICT GME team in lean and flexible manufacturing equipment design, and driving consistent equipment execution excellence in alignment with business growth objectives.
In this role, you will work closely with the GME Director, GME team members, manufacturing equipment vendors, product management leaders, and segment/corporate equipment and automation technology leaders to lead ICT Manufacturing Equipment Strategy initiatives in a high-growth, high-complexity environment
Responsible for developing and executing lean and flexible manufacturing equipment technology strategy in alignment with the business unit objectives and operations strategy on market leader level.
Develop comprehensive manufacturing equipment technology roadmap using appropriate input and levers in collaboration with cross-functional teams and Assembly Center of Excellence (CoE).
Support Manufacturing Engineering (ME) project teams at DFM stage to identify and define the suitable technology according to process requirement, cost, lead time, volume.
Support ME teams for Industrial workshops with core-team and factories to align on equipment solution for New product development (NPD) projects
Develop, maintain and govern deployment of global manufacturing equipment standards and specifications.
Implement training and compliance to Lean Manufacturing Equipment Design Guidelines.
Work with Procurement to develop strategic supplier partnerships for automation and complex global manufacturing equipment.
Optimize manufacturing equipment costs and shorten time to market.
Lead monthly CAPEX Review (CerCo) meetings from technical equipment side, verifying correct equipment selected for the process with the correct supplier, from a lean mindset
Continually benchmark leading automation technologies and market trends. Match business strategies to seek/choose appropriate technology by considering the business value.
Involvement in automation projects allowing for seamless and safe launch in plant.
Improve DFA/DFM in early product development phases in collaboration with Manufacturing Engineering, Product Engineering, Quality, Operations, CoE etc
Attend weekly CBC 2 PAC meetings to ensure proper technical equipment solutions are being utilized per project
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, with 8-10 years equipment integration experience Master’s degree preferred with 5 years of equipment integration experience
Experience and knowledge in building manufacturing/technology road-mapping
Fluent in English, both written and spoken
Experienced in the development of lean automation manufacturing systems incorporating flexible and modular automation.
Demonstrated experience and proficiency with process integration and mechatronic systems.
Demonstrated ability to consolidate fragmented processes and to develop and implement into a platform with widespread use.
Knowledge and practice of Quality Systems and Problem Solving (Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing).
Manufacturing production concepts, such as: adhesive dispensing, soldering, welding, pick and place, visual inspection
Experience and knowledge with machine safety systems and related component selection.
Experience and knowledge with HMI as well as Ethernet communications between machine PLC’s and database systems.
PLC, SW knowledge to Identify on current automation lines how to improve efficiency and decrease cycle time
