The Quality Engineer is part of the Quality team in Mansfield, OH and will be joining a team of professionals who are passionate about ensuring the future growth of the business while maintaining integrity, taking accountability, working together and continually improving to ensure constant innovation and openness to change.
Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will provide Quality Assurance and Quality Control support to product development and operations functions including being responsible for driving zero escapes through the establishment and execution of proactive tools in advanced quality, manufacturing and the supply base.
Responsibilities
  • Daily support process line quality process questions
  • Maintain quality plans for responsible value streams
  • Lead or support quality improvement projects
  • Lead problem-solving activities using 8D and/or other problem-solving methodology
  • Drive proactive quality initiatives needed to prevent quality problems
  • Improve work instructions and provide training
  • Review/approve First Article Inspection reports (FAIs)
  • Provide support for Design Reviews.
  • Coordinate DFMEA & PFMEA reviews for NPD.
  • Support Supplier Quality and Purchasing organizations to address supplier quality issues
  • Ensure proper control of nonconforming materials and lead MRB activities
  • Escalate and report on quality issues and status of action plans
  • Coordinate changes to products & processes and maintain/improve quality-related documentation
  • Plan and conduct process audits and product audits
  • Effectively address customer complaints, including containment, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and customer communications
  • Support customer audits, including coordination, communication, and responses
Essential Qualifications IncludeWhat your background should look like:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field
  • 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with focus on quality assurance / quality engineering
  • Self-motivation and ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to lead and coordinate root cause and corrective action activities using quality tools such as 5 Whys, Ishikawa diagrams, PPSR and 8D
  • Knowledge and understanding of electrical and mechanical principles
  • Hands on experience with FMEA, MSA, SPC
  • Working knowledge of ISO9001
  • Thorough understanding of GD&T
Preferred Skills, Knowledge And Experience
  • Experience with electro-mechanical testing
  • Experience in metal fabrication processes
  • Experience in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment
  • Experience in the aviation, aerospace & defense industry
  • Working knowledge of AS9100
  • Experience with Six Sigma and/or Shainin methodology
  • Experience with source inspection
  • ASQ certification
  • Working knowledge of SAP

Compensation
  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $74,880 - $112,320 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
  • Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
