Team Survivor Northwest is seeking an experienced certified group fitness instructor or certified personal trainer to teach a weekly class for women cancer survivors as part of our Move to Heal Fitness Program. The women at TSNW are at every stage of treatment and recovery, so instructor must know or be willing to learn about how to modify exercise programs to cancer survivors per ACE or CETI cancer exercise recommendations. This class is intended to be a low- to moderate- intensity foundational fitness class that should include strength, flexibility, aerobics, and stretching. This class will take place in person in the Port Hadlock area.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 Teach a weekly Move to Heal group fitness class for cancer survivors. Create workout routines, teach proper form and technique, and provide modifications and feedback to participants during class for safe and effective movement.

 Contact new participants prior to class to discuss prior exercise experience, current health status, and specific concerns like neuropathy or lymphedema (etc.) that would impact exercise.

 Support an atmosphere of inclusion and encouragement. We serve women of varied physical abilities, treatment stages, experience with exercise, body shapes and sizes, and races.

 Should be body positive and support members in creating and maintaining healthy behaviors and habits with no focus on weight loss or achieving a specific body shape.  Track attendance for all classes.

 Serve as an ambassador for TSNW to its members and the greater community. Become generally familiar with core mission, organizational culture, and other available TSNW programs.

 Beyond the weekly class, there may be additional optional opportunities to teach at Team Survivor Northwest events, such as our annual Fitness Retreat.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 Must be certified as a group fitness instructor or personal trainer by an accredited organization.

 Must be willing to do cancer exercise certification when hired -or- already be certified in cancer exercise.

 Preference given to candidates in Port Hadlock or immediate surrounding areas.

 The ideal candidate would have at least two years of experience training older adults or individuals with chronic conditions. Three or more years of experience preferred.

 Experience teaching group exercise via Zoom is helpful (but not required) because it allows instructor to substitute for our Zoom fitness classes when other instructors are out.

EMPLOYMENT TYPE:

Independent contractor (no benefits offered). Pay rate is $60 per class. Classes are one hour long and are generally weekly (4-5 classes per month). Team Survivor Northwest will reimburse for an approved cancer exercise certification if needed.
