Tech Army is Hiring a Fire Protection Design Engineer Near Aiken, SC
DUTIES Provide Fire Protection Design Engineering staff augmentation support to Client. Primary responsibilities include engineering task analysis, walk-downs, design development and generation of design output documents. Typical deliverables, based on the area(s) of expertise, include Plan Drawings, Elevation Drawings, Piping Isometrics, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, Riser Details, Hydraulic Calculations, Sway Brace Calculations, Connection Diagrams, Conduit / Block Diagrams, Logic Diagrams, Panel Detail Drawings, and Battery Loading Calculations. Provide technical support to site construction forces, start-up & testing, suppliers, or subcontract personnel. Prepare Data Sheets, Statements of Work, Procurement Specifications, and Design Build Specifications. Design services shall be provided using Client processes and procedures. Graduate of an ABET accredited Fire Protection Engineering program.
OR
BS degree in an engineering discipline and at least one of the following:
Registered Professional Engineer in Fire Protection.
Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) NICET Level III/IV certification in one or more of the following areas of expertise:
Fire Alarm, Detection and Signaling
Special Hazard Systems
Water-Based Suppression Systems
Professional or Fellow Member in the SFPE
Experience/SkillsCandidates must demonstrate ten (10) years recent design experience, four (4) of which shall be in at least one of the following areas of expertise:
Fire Alarm, Detection and Signaling Design
General knowledge of electrical/control systems, connection diagrams, layout plans, logic diagrams, panel layout details,
P&ID’s, and battery loading calculations
Special Hazard Systems/Water-Based Suppression Systems Design
General knowledge of mechanical systems, P&ID development, pump calculations, line sizing, and mechanical equipment sizing
calculations.
Capable of performing hydraulic calculations both manually and electronically using HASS software
Capable of becoming Radiological Worker Training Level II qualified.
Additional Skills Required
Working knowledge of NFPA Codes and Standards, and National Consensus Codes and Standards such as NFPA 13, NFPA 70,
NFPA 72, NFPA 90A, NFPA 101, IBC, and various other ISA and IEEE standards
Experience with 2D MicroStation Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD)
Ability to operate Windows Microsoft Office Applications
Ability to perform field walk-downs.
Previous SRS design experience and familiarity with the processes and procedures for providing design support to SRS facilities is preferred. Work HoursA 40-hour work week is scheduled. Client utilizes various work schedules; including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on week B). Workweek excludes Client holidays. Client Management will determine best schedule depending on work needs. Each workday has a 30-minute lunch. Area Security AccessThe candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. Afterward, the selected candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work assignments. Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (“L” or “Q”) within the past two years are preferred. Validation
