Role Overview

We are seeking a creative, dynamic and talented Content Marketing Specialist (CMS) who is passionate about Social Media, to join our team. This role primarily involves developing and managing content for client social media accounts and assisting with on-location content capturing. Additionally, the specialist may support copywriting for our clients, focusing on creating or editing blog content and enhancing website copy. The ideal candidate will be highly creative, have a strong portfolio showcasing writing skills and social media expertise and will be experienced in using tools like Canva and basic video editing software. Experience in photography is a plus. 

Candidates will have to be local to the Hampton Roads area. This is considered a hybrid position as employees are remote, but will require the CMS to go to clients’ location to capture content.

Key Responsibilities
  • Report to the Content Marketing Manager: Collaborate with the content team and other departments to ensure alignment and consistency across all marketing efforts
  • Social Media Management: Manage social media calendar, create and manage content for clients' social media platforms, including posts, captions, and graphics using Canva or other tools. Some video editing may be required.
  • Client Collaboration: Work closely with clients and internal teams to understand their content needs and goals.
  • Industry Trends: Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices to ensure content remains relevant and competitive.
  • On-Location Content Capturing: Provide support for on-location content capturing, including photography and video, to offer a comprehensive content strategy to clients.
  • Content Development: Create engaging content for diverse client and industry websites to boost their online presence, increase user interaction, and support SEO efforts.
  • Copywriting: Create engaging and high-quality content for clients' blogs, ensuring alignment with their brand and target audience.
Qualifications
  • Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in content marketing, with a focus on social media content creation and content editing, preferably in an agency setting. Experience in managing paid social media ads is a plus. 
  • Creative Thinking: Ability to generate creative ideas for diverse industries and topics, bring new ideas to the table, out-of-the-box thinking.
  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrable success in creating engaging content for social media platforms, managing social media accounts on multiple platforms, understanding audience segmentation, experience in writing for websites and/or blogs.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor content to different audiences and brand voices.
  • On-Location Experience: Experience with on-location content capturing. Experience in professional photography and video is a plus.
  • Client Management: Ability to build strong relationships with clients, bringing them new ideas, getting them excited about the product, and communicating value about our services. 
  • Tool Proficiency: Proficiency in using content creation and management tools, including Canva, social media scheduling platforms and basic video editing software. Jasper or other AI tools are preferred. 
  • Portfolio: A strong portfolio of writing samples and examples of successful social media campaigns.
  • SEO Knowledge: Strong understanding of SEO best practices and their application in content creation. Experience with basic Wordpress editing is a plus. 
  • Educational Background: A degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with Google Suite and BaseCamp is a plus.
Work Mode

Hybrid: this is a remote position with occasional on-site work for content capture support.
