FORKLIFT OPERATOR/PALLETIZER

Job Summary

The forklift operator duties may include loading and unloading trailers, supplying materials during production. Tasks associated with this position may require being outdoors to move or unload goods, driver must be prepared to work in any weather conditions. Driver will be required to perform routine pre-shift inspections of forklift to ensure suitable working conditions of the equipment. Sorting, packing, wrapping, tying, and labeling products as instructed by supervisor. Other duties involved may include operating forklift in a dock area or inside a production line with limited space and helping out with other clean up tasks at the end of the production shift.

Due to the nature of this position, safety awareness is a top priority; a high level of concentration is required when operating a forklift to avoid accidents.

Shift work – up to 40 hours per week minimum (depending on production needs) Must be available Monday through Friday. Some overtime will be required.

Minimum requirements

· Must be at least 18 years of age

· Have at least 1 year of verifiable forklift experience in a fast paced environment, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment

· Must be able to pass a written forklift evaluation as well as a hands on certification given by our onsite trainer.

Qualifications and requirements

· At least one year of forklift experience

· Basic math skills

· English (reading, writing, and speaking required)

· Strong attention to detail

· Must have a strong ability to multi-task and think on your feet

· Reliable transportation to and from work

· Walking, standing, and sitting up to 10 hours per shift

· Excellent communication and teamwork skills

· Ability to follow instructions in a changing environment

· Ability to complete the entire shift that is assigned

Physical Requirements

While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is frequently required to talk, hear, sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel; and is occasionally required to climb, balance, crouch, and crawl; is frequently required to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 40 pounds with assistance, required to maintain body balance while ascending or descending the forklift, and to maintain body equilibrium while bending at the waist or at the knees. Ascending and/or descending from forklift throughout the shift will be constant and routine.

The employee is routinely required to reach with hands and arms; work with hands and arms in handling, seizing, holding, or grasping motions and with the fingers in fingering, picking, and pinching actions to operate objects, tools or controls. Employee will be subject to repetitive motion of arms, wrists, hands, feet, and fingers. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment

Work environment may be subject to climate conditions. Environment may be wet, hot and consist of temperature extremes and excessive noise levels. Employee will be required to adhere to general safety and OSHA regulations. This position consistently works with and around moving parts and machinery. While performing various forklift tasks driver may be exposed to odors and fumes. Attention to surroundings is crucial as it is a very busy production/manufacturing environment with a lot of foot traffic in the production lines.

Forklift safety training/certification is provided.

Pay: From $16.00 per hour
